Criminal Minds S08E01 - Shin Watches CM
so here we go
anything-new replied to your post: OK. Because I decided that I would, I’m going to...
Good luck! I had a lot of trouble with the beginning, but it got better.
Thanks Nath. I think I've somehow seen the pilot before. I may intersperse it with Enterprise or Voyager episodes... just to keep myself from overloading and hating it.
OK. Because I decided that I would, I'm going to try and watch Criminal Minds S8 that I haven't watched ANYTHING of until the finale (why did I watch the finale - EJ Johnson. That's it.)
So. Here I go. I shall write one post an episode under a cut (and will be tagging secretfunzone in all of them because ANA! (not to be mistaken with ANNA who is shewhoisanna))

I don’t watch Enterprise but this is absolutely well-written and it discusses an issue that unfortunately is still there in many present shows (pointedly one we both know): appearance x essence. Really a shame.
You see this is almost exactly the same issue. There seems to be a lot of pressure on everyone these days (not just women) to look a certain way and to act a certain way and more and more are bowing to the pressures.
This show has been over almost 8 years, and I honest to god miss it because it was so good, and I thought that, at the time, the decision to hire/cast a Latina actress OF THE RIGHT AGE for the character that had been written was EXTREMELY brave of the show, especially considering it was struggling in the ratings and hiring a "bombshell" would have probably been far easier.
The lovely Ezzie just put it perfectly in a comment on this. "Little boys don't like seeing the man they look up to banging anything above mid-20s" - This is likely accurate, and is ever so slightly depressing. There is far too much prominence put on looks, rather than all the beautiful character traits that MAKE these characters people who we fall in love with.
Erika may only be a minor character in Enterprise, but this kind of prejudice is happening over and over, regardless of the status of the character, in network shows all over television and on both sides of the Atlantic and, frankly, it needs to stop. There is no "right" way to look, there is no "right" way to act, there is no need, in a lot of cases, for this to be a thing at all.
When did 20-something and super-skinny become the "most attractive" thing on the planet?
About your last Breen post, that's exactly it. He gave his opinion, what he thinks woild fit best. Which is weird when we think that he wrote The Company. Still it is just an opinion, not actually a plan. He said himself: "nothing planned yet". Which means they are considering it. :)
Which is a huge victory for morcia
which makes me insanely hopeful Kevin (and 95% or so sure given the hints we've received) is going to remain happy with Gina. And that is right! I'm glad I read that again. My wounds from Zugzwang are still fresh and I just got scared for my bbies ;___;
About your compiling on people's comments hating on Garcia, I think that IF the network's intention is gather info on fans's preference these are the posts we least have to consider. Because they denote such a blalant prejudice against one of the show's favorite characters that they don't even make a case for Kevin and Garcia. I really trust Morcia supporters to be not only more numerous but also more intelligent than this. And it can always be the work of few trollers w/ multiple accts, so...
That's definitely true! they are just petty "Morgan is MINE" comments most of the time anyway, which is another reflection of what we've seen with Reid/Maeve. I just think it's interesting/slightly disturbing to see this level of prejudice still alive and well. And you're right, I definitely would like to think that as well. It's just pretty sad that the only reason these people can come up with is that "She's not thin/pretty enough"!

hehe… question made by yours trully. Just couldn’t help myself ;)
I was tempted to ask too but dfkng I'm so shy ._. so I'm glad you did!
no one can convince me there wasn't something there! ;) maybe these were the 'games' she was referring to in her last chat?
