I kept on trying to think of insults related to something horrific happening to your genitalia but then I realized it didn’t feel right if I couldn’t say it irl, so remind me to insult you next time we hang out okay? Okay
Me @straight friends: don't say the word gay negatively, it's offensive and needs to stop
Me @fellow queer friends: holy shit dude, you're so gay
like in the beginning the guy is like completely consumed with these anime girls who seem almost robotic in their sexual movements and then they become more eery and like gross but even still hes still kind of infatuated and then after he passes out we get cues to his relationship and how his weird sexual and deformed perspective of what he wanted of her ruined their relationship and he has to deal with the consequences of his perverted fantasy which inevitably wins and destroys him
yeah, it’s starting to make more sense now! I get where the video is going with it. It creates an unhealthy cycle of fetishization > impossible selfish standards > self destruction > start over.
Guess the video just wasn’t aimed at me, and therefore that meaning gets lost in translation…
Yeah I think that was what "Me!Me!Me!" is supposed to be about, a breaking down of how weird hentai anime stuff is grotesque and sickening or something along those lines, a "critique of anime titty culture" as you put it. I can, however, see how someone would not see it because whoever came up with the video gets a little "out there" with the themes and imagery to the point where a message can pretty easily get lost. But I think that was what they were going for, yeah
seductivecarrots said: mememe is talking about how the otaku mindset ruins healthy relationships which is why we see the dude breaking it off with his gf since she couldnt hold up to his unrealistic anime standards and he regrets it but its too late
ok, so I wasn’t too far off.
I understand. But I guess since I’ve taken so many steps already to distance myself from that culture and those sort of things, it just doesn’t click with me, personally. I mean, not to shit on the meaning or the intent behind the video, but I already know all that. Hopefully the video’s doing its intended purpose for other people, though.
I am still giving major props for the color and animation, it’s gorgeous. And with Teddyloid on the music? Hell yeah son, nice job. But for me, nah. I love, Love, LOVE trippy colorful videos like that, but I just…don’t need to see more of that culture to know that it’s a bad road.
Thanks guys!

Sorry I waited so long to post these, but if it makes you feel better, I immediately stepped into and tripped into a small garbage can while putting this away
