@thebibliosphere , I have long followed your blog, and I have the deepest respect for you as a writer, a disability advocate, and-- as is most relevant in this instance-- a homeowner.

I am a person of limited means, and aspirations of future home-owning. My sister-in-law recently showed by a Real-Estate listing for a 3-bed, 2.5-bath, 1,607-sqr ft house on a 0.26-acre lot, built in 2002, selling for $99,900.

The most obvious reason for the suspiciously low price seems to be a mold-problem, which is visible in the photos on the real estate website.

As a home-owner, as one who has frequently posted about The House That Cthulu Built, I must ask you: do you think this property would be worth the problems?

The reposting thing

There's an art blog on Tumblr that posts a lot every day and a lot of what they post is stolen from other bloggers. Perhaps you. In Tumblr-speak they repost instead of reblog. When they take from me, which they do daily, they might think they're just reposting an image from the public domain, but what they're really doing is stealing the time that I put in sifting through books, magazines and other ancient publications on the Internet Archive. They're stealing the time it takes to locate and download the image, to crop and resize it, touch it up if necessary, to find and paste the url into the post so followers can find the source for their own interests. It's called archiving, which deserves acknowledgment. They're reposting the careful captioning I do as their own. And they're claiming my aesthetic judgment as their own. I don't get it, because they also do a lot of reblogging. Why not reblog everything? They clearly know the difference.

I filed a report but apparently reposting violates Tumblr community standards but not the TOS, so I'm not hopeful staff will do anything. They should, because the blogger is stealing from many, not just me. So I ask you, what do you think I should do? What would you do?

I could let it go. Typically, if they repost a Nemfrog post that has 500 notes theirs will get 4. So, who cares. On the other hand, maybe you can let them know in comments what you think about reposting on Tumblr. What did you do when you experienced it?

I can't go into detail, but an old buddy of mine got hooked on some bad shit and wound up homeless with a pretty solid criminal record. I'm a security guard now, and he just showed up in the area as a BOLO.

Last time we saw each other was bad, but I want to get him a few necessities together and a heads up that my client knows his face so he doesn't steal here and get nailed.

I'm ded grabbing Cliff bars, a water bottle, and socks. Not sure if I'll be able to track him down in time for fresh fruit or produce, but back when I was floor camping I really missed those so I'll try to find something that'll keep.

Anyone with experience have any ideas for unexpected useful things? He's a clever fucker, can build almost anything if needed, so I'm aiming for multipurpose or multifunctional. (Can't afford much myself).

List so far:

Cliff bars (used to prefer those over other granola)

Reusable water bottle

Socks (I have some big wool ones at home)

Wet wipes (not many public showers here)

What are some other things he many not be able to get himself? I can put everything in a ziplock freezer bag and hide it in my backpack till I get a lead

To those that write novels and/or long fics, I have a question.

…How do you keep track of everything??

I have a novel idea that won’t leave me alone, but as a mostly short story/one-shot writer, my main method of maintaining continuity so far has been simply rereading the entire fic as many times as I may need.

For obvious reasons, I can’t do this every time I try to write my novel, but I also STRUGGLE to keep my notes organized enough for them to actually help me.

Any tips or suggestions would be so super appreciated!! 🙏🏻
