“Kubo! Come here, child. It feels like it’s been far too long!” The old woman smiled ever so sweetly when greeting the boy, holding her arms open to welcome him towards her.

Schmendrick had found the thin little boy, looking extremely lost in some town they’d passed through, and had entertained him with juggling tricks long enough to bring him to Molly. It was Molly who was extremely good with children, funny as it was. Despite the sparky nature of her personality, she could set down her spitfire swings and biting words to cradle any toddler or feed any teen.
“Tell me your name, dear,” She plopped down a roughly hewn wooden bowl of thick soup in front of him, sitting down awkwardly with her legs crossed. “The tall man, if he didn’t tell you, is Schmendrick the magician. I’m Molly Grue the-- the, uh, just Molly Grue. Just Molly is fine, actually.” She smiled at him, the wrinkles around her eyes showing that she was one to grin and laugh often.
He looked quite tired and battle-worn for a child, didn’t he? And he kept fiddling with thin leaflets of whatever those were. His clothing was odd, too. Everything was strange!
“I promise, we won’t hurt you. We’re friendly folk, just a magician and his helper. Look, you’ve even got an advantage over me-- you’ve got shoes on, and I haven’t.” Molly nudged the bowl towards him, encouraging him to eat.

Zuko usually watches by palanquin, mostly only getting a glimpse of the sways of the crowd before they disperse after the final ‘show’ of the afternoon. He slips an old lady a gold piece, giving her a nod. She tilts her head at a younger boy, Zuko smiles and reaches in his pockets for another gold piece.
“They really seem to like you here.” he says, looking down at his shoes, “You have to be careful though, not everyone takes too well to beggars here.”
