Thank you for responding to my question about Seiri and Kizu! It’s a heartbreaking yet fulfilling end. In regards to Misayo’s death, how did Nanazawa and Okaju react? Did her mother and brother ever find out?
Thank you too! Had it been written, it would have been the culmination of Misayo's absolute nightmare in how the child she bore to desperately separate from Oni society became the sole thing that ruined her own people's lives--just a despondent ending for everyone involved.
It has been years and years since I've written this story, so forgive me as I might be getting some of these details wrong. If I remember correctly, it took its toll on both of them deeply. I forgot which one of them was the one who found Tamae wailing over her body, and how they reacted to the scene (I have the notes on one of my old computers). But in any case, Okaju made the proper burial rites and buried her with grandeur and respect, while repressing his own despair at her death. Nanazawa, on the other hand, stormed out and violently and emotionally reacted to her death.
Okibu found out her daughter's death very soon after, when Misayo appeared as a spirit to apologize to her--and Okibu realized just how much she had lost, and how evil she had been rejecting her own daughter's child--when Misayo vanished in front of her.
(Again, I had the scene written on one of my old computers). That was Okibu's last scene in the story. At the time I hadn't thought much far from that, including Danjirou's reaction--although I believe he would have felt a mixture of sorrow and relief at his sister's death. After Misayo appeared in spirit and left the story, everything was from Tamae's point of view and her pursuit of power. The only character I remember appearing at the end was Sayumi, as Tamae and Akahiko's captive, and her fate was not pleasant.
