Fuck i js realised the title kinda matches my other post abt nagi. Awh poo
The days without Nagi felt longer than they should. Blue Lock had swallowed him whole — no visitors, limited contact. You tried to keep busy: school, homework, scrolling through old photos of lazy afternoons in his room where he’d rest his head on your lap while playing games. But the quiet settled in heavy at night. Your bed felt too big, and even your favorite shows weren’t the same without his half-asleep commentary.
You missed him. A lot.
Meanwhile, inside Blue Lock, Nagi was doing what he did best: winning without trying too hard. Goal after goal, his effortless genius shining through. The points piled up. Most of the guys used them for better gear or recovery sessions. Nagi, for once, had a different plan.
“What a pain…” he muttered, scrolling through the facility’s reward catalog on a borrowed tablet. But the thought of your last text — I miss hearing your voice — made the decision simple. He exchanged a chunk of his points for a basic phone. Nothing fancy. Just enough for calls and messages.
The first text came late one evening.
Nagi: yo
Nagi: got a phone now. points from goals. u awake?
Your heart jumped when your phone buzzed. You nearly dropped it in your rush to reply.
You: Nagi!! You got a phone??
You: I’m so happy to hear from you 🥺 I’ve been lonely without you.
Nagi: yeah. scoring was easy. texting u is less troublesome than i thought.
From there, the messages became constant. Good morning texts that arrived at weird hours because of his schedule. Random game updates: just hit a crazy shot. thought of u. You sent him pictures of Choki the cactus and little memes that made him reply with a single “lol” or a voice note of him yawning. Even when he was exhausted from training, he answered.
One night, after a particularly rough day where the emptiness hit harder than usual, you called him.
“…Hey,” his voice was low and sleepy on the other end. “You sound down.”
“I just miss you,” you admitted softly. “It’s stupid, but the apartment feels empty.”
A pause. You could hear him shifting, probably lying in his dorm bed. “Not stupid. I… don’t like it either. Everything’s more of a hassle when you’re not around.”
That was as close to I miss you too as Nagi got, but it warmed you all the same.
Soon, calls turned into video calls. FaceTime became your new routine. He’d prop his phone against his pillow, hair messy, eyes half-lidded as he lounged after training. You’d do the same, showing him your dinner or the new game you were playing to pass the time.
One particularly late night, you were both fighting sleep. The lights in your room were dim, and Nagi’s face filled your screen, bathed in the cool glow of his phone.
“You look tired,” you murmured, cheek squished against your pillow.
“Mmm. Training was whatever. But talking to you isn’t.” His voice was softer than usual, the kind of tone he only used when it was just the two of you. “Keep the call on. I don’t feel like hanging up.”
You smiled, warmth blooming in your chest. “Okay. Goodnight, Nagi.”
“Night.”
Neither of you ended the call. The screen stayed open as your breathing evened out. On his end, Nagi watched you drift off for a while, a tiny, rare smile tugging at his lips. Your face on the screen was better than any game.
The next morning, Reo walked into the shared common area and nearly choked on his water.
Nagi was still on FaceTime. The call had lasted all night. His phone was balanced on his chest while he lay sprawled on the couch, eyes closed, breathing steady. On the screen, you were still asleep too, hair fanned across your pillow.
Reo smirked, pulling out his own phone to snap a quick photo. “No way. The great Nagi Seishiro pulling an all-nighter just to sleep on FaceTime with his girlfriend? That’s adorable, dude.”
Nagi cracked one eye open, completely unbothered. “Shut up. It’s not a hassle if it’s her.”
Reo laughed, leaning against the wall. “Man, you’re whipped. I’ve never seen you put in this much effort for anything that doesn’t involve a soccer ball. Does she know she’s the only thing that can make you charge your phone overnight?”
Nagi just shrugged, glancing back at your peaceful sleeping face on the screen. “She’s worth it. Now leave me alone… I’m still sleeping.”
Reo shook his head, grinning as he walked away. “Tell her I said hi when she wakes up, lover boy.”
Back in your room, you stirred a little later, squinting at the screen. Nagi was still there, half-awake, watching you with that lazy, fond look.
“Morning,” he mumbled. “Reo saw us. He’s gonna tease me forever.”
You giggled sleepily. “Was it worth it?”
He paused, then gave you the tiniest nod, voice barely above a whisper.
“Yeah. Come back to sleep a little longer. I’m not ready to hang up yet.”
