Odin as Shaman

Odin is a powerful sorcerer, in all the nine worlds there are none such as he who has mastered all the different forms of magic. He uses his two ravens to send out his senses to observe the different realms. He understands the depth of the runes and uses their power to gain more knowledge.

He uses Seidr, magic normally reserved for women, and some would say this makes Odin “un-manly.” However, he does not care what others might say. To Odin power is power. He uses Galdar to chant and sing the various sounds of creation, enacting his will on the different worlds. Finally, to him is reserved secrets of sorcery that no other can comprehend, simply whispered as Odinic Sorcery.

There are many forms of magic, and Odin practices them all. Knowledge is power, but it also has its price. What price would you pay?

Runes. It's said thar Odin, in His quest for knowledge, created or discovered them when He impaled Himself upon the World Tree Yggdrasil, after seeing through His one eye at the patterns made by roots and branches both fallen and remaining, interweaving all the wisdom He accrued from His travels and discoveries, and every conversation He held. I love the runes. You might have already noticed that I tend to use them a lot, mostly here to complement card readings; however, I also read them a lot on their own. They grant special insight to any situation, the kind of no nonsense, rough-around-the-edges advice, warnings and comments that I feel perfectly correspond to what the Allfather would say (or is saying, rather). So, on this Wednesday (Wotan's/Odin's day) I just wanted to share them, show them as I look at them: patterns and signs in the web of life. I may not worship directly or orient myself towards the norse Gods but I do feel a strong synergy with the runes, and with Odin Himself (and I tend towards calling myself a "norn" sometimes, but that's besides the point). Seithr is fun because he has almost all the qualifications to be the Edgiest Edgelord character ever played (Oath of Vengeance, tragic backstory he refuses to get into, jaded worldview) but instead he’s just tired and deeply, deeply depressed. He’s the Dwarven equivalent of a sad Mountain Goats song.

Seithr: Aether or Nether?

I was looking at the Superpower wiki and I saw the Black Beast from Blazblue listed under Ethereal Physiology and Aether Power Link. I get they are referring to Seithr being the same as Aether, but given its Darker traits I’m wondering if Nether fits more.

Here are the description of the two elements from the wiki:

Aether, a powerful and unique celestial element said to flow throughout the universe. Commonly recognized as the essence breathed by gods in the same way humans breathe air, Aether is a power that allows control of elemental, cosmic, spiritual, and transcendental forces. Regarded as divine power, users that can control Aether are considered gods, essentially becoming invincible. 

Nether, the "Chthonian Element" that flows through the realms of the living, and the Dead. Nether is most known as the substance that makes up the Underworld, a subterranean dimension where all souls go when they pass on. Nether is very similar to Aether “the Celestial Element” in that it is from a Plane that exists between the planes of both matter, and energy.

Which one do you think Seithr from Blazblue fits? It flows throughout the world yes, but it only flows throughout the world due to the Cauldrons being a thing, and given the Boundary is where souls eventually go so one could consider that the Underworld, and the whole Essence breathed by the Gods thing could fit that the Boundary is where the Sankishin are from.

So a friend of the family came to visit recently and she’s very spiritual. We were talking and I have to say she piqued my interest in rune-casting.

I stuggle with accepting spirituality and things of a spiritual nature because I’m very logical. I don’t inherently dismiss these things as untrue or nonexistant because I dont believe that a lack of evidence equals a lack of existence.

This post didnt have much of a point to it.. Just think I wanted voice whats on my mind. I’m falling down a rabbit-hole of research and I think I might try rune-casting and maybe Galdr (probably not as that one involves a sort of singing lol).

So I've read somewhere that every matter in the Blazblue verse is made of seithr. I wonder where this is mentioned and if there's another thing relating to this? Kindly educate me.

For the life of me, I can’t remember where exactly this is said. I think it’s revealed somewhere in CS but I know something is said along these lines in C:E. Everything can be broken down to seithr (look at the Drive-Unions in XB).

I wish I could provide more on this, but its been a long time since I subjected myself to the agonising torture that was every route in XBlaze.
