Altar details in the evening, 2024
obsessed with gold, sunflowers & yellow roses lately ♡ seeing them helps me refocus my mind somehow. i want to buy a bouquet of yellow roses for my birthday! i also tried passionfruit for the first time yesterday & it tastes as good as it smells in my perfumes & as the name would suggest. i'm gonna buy more when it's seasonal!
happy mother’s day to my deities aphrodite, freyja, selene, and loki!!
(sekhmet is an honorary mention because she does not have children and doesn’t exactly feel maternal to me but still wanted to include her since she is a strong feminine icon)
I'm back!
I'm back from my little hiatus, so I'll start to get back into posting from now on. What happened to me?
Essentially, I'm a college student. This month has been terrible for me, due to the fact that I've been busy with midterms. They're over now, so I should be back into a normal posting schedule (meaning, posting whenever the hell I want).
For those of you who might be interested in following my main blog it's @sabels-small-sphere. I talk about non-pagan and non-witchcraft stuff there, including media I'm interested in (Splatoon, Okami, Legend of Zelda, and much more) and I also talk about my WIPs. I've been taking a ton of time to focus on those as well, so if you're looking for fantasy stories centering queer and/or black characters, feel free to follow. This blog will stay pagan focused, although I may occasionally reblog some of my writing content. If you don't want to see that, feel free to mute the #sabels-drabbles tag.
New content below the cut. It's pretty short, but I figured I'd write something new.
"Is it better to be the monster, or be quietly devoured?"
She grins, blood red lips in the lamplight, the white hint of fang, more snarl than smile
"Is it better to be the monster, or be quietly devoured?"
I shake my head, she already knows the answer. We've had this argument before. She knows what words I would offer up, my benediction of mankind. She knows my heart.
"Is it better to be the monster?"
She purrs out of the darkness. I have no answer for her. "Do you think He asked me that, when He sent me?" She asks, her amber eyes glowing. "No, they poured their rage, their vengeance into the sand, and I arose,"
""Go, hunt, kill, avenge me!" And I did. I fought, I overpowered, I devoured. I drank deep of their blood until the sands ran red. And then in the shade, I slept and dreamt of the hunt. And when He saw the monster He had unleashed, He wept"
Or be quietly devoured?
"He begged of me to spare those who had so recklessly abandoned Him. But I could not be other than I am. I hunted, I killed, and I was tricked. You know the story." I do.
Monster?
"He turned me against our enemies. Fought claw, and fang, and no longer alone. And when they burned crops, killed our children, pulled the stones of our cities to the ground. We forgave nothing"
Devoured?
"And when He reigned Us in, our dynasties fell. We starved. And the old ways were forgotten" I feel her rage. Her resentment at being asked to stand by. Her eagerness to right these wrongs.
"So which is it?" She asks me. "Which is the greatest sin?" Flash of white. Gleam of red. Glowing amber. My eyes meet hers, "to be quietly devoured" and now my smile matches Her's...
SEKHMET; BRINGER OF PLAGUES, HEALER OF NATIONS
Hello! Today’s drawing is for @blogssuchasthis, who asked me to do a fusion of Steampunk, plague doctors and Goddess Sekhmet; I hope it came out well :)
I hope Goddess Sekhmet enjoys my drawing, as well as all of you!
