Selective Compassion
Carol Guzy, 2011 Pulitzer Prize-winning photojournalist, recently shared this with the Washington Post Magazine:
“Someone once told me it’s not imaging how you would feel in a given situation: It’s the ability to break through your own veil of life experiences and truly see how someone else is feeling. We’ve seen throughout history how selective compassion breeds hate and conflict. In my humble…

7 Years Vegan - Selective Compassion
7 Years Vegan – Selective Compassion
Today is my 7-year vegan anniversary. Every year I try to reflect on how being vegan has changed the way I think, feel, live and look at the world. Because it does change – there are times I’m more angry, times I’m more sensitive, times I feel empowered and times I feel helpless. It’s certainly an emotional roller coaster but there’s no other ride I’d rather be on. The thoughts that keep banging…

As a sanctuary for farmed animals, we find it distressing that some nonprofits serve the animals we rescue in order to raise funds for other animals. Our Food for Thought Campaign is here to help change that!
Hey I work on a farm. And we do everything in our power to make sure out animals are taken care of, we keep their rooms clean, we give them plenty food (we feed the animals six times in a day) we take care of them around the clock, they have plenty of water and even have sprinklers to have fun with, so for say this about all animals please?
Do they end up being killed? Cause otherwise giving them food 6 times a day won’t change the fact their lives will be taken when they shouldn’t be taken. Of course, there are places where the treatment is not like the one given at the farm your work, but see the whole picture. Would you see it ok if instead of cows, pigs or chickens the same way of thinking is applied to dogs? Will be ok to raise dogs, giving them shelter and food so at the end when they get killed humans feel a bit better with their conscience? Is all about selective compassion, once you see you couldn’t do that to a dog or a cat and you realize a cow, a pig and a chicken aren’t so different from a cat or a dog, that’s when you realize that it doesn’t matter the treatment if you’re still seeing them as properties and take away their lives.
Do you love animals too?
I hate seeing ASPCA commercials on TV. Hearing the lady saying "dogs and cats are abandoned all over the US. They are neglected, blah blah" infuriates me because I guarantee as much as they say "we love animals and want to help them and our mission is to protect and save animals" they will never do anything to bring awareness about animals deemed human food I fucking despise selective compassion
Do not say pet abuse and animal abuse are the same thing. They are two very different things.
