Which of your fics are you most proud of?

Argh, hard question! Can I have two?

Clockwork Murders, because it’s the fic that made me realise I could actually write novels. It was big and complicated, with multiple threads and character arcs and world building, and I hadn’t really thought I could do something on that scale before.

And A Thousand Miles and Poles Apart because it was difficult in very different ways. It was a story where I had to deal with the real world and a story that couldn’t have big battle set pieces: all the conflict and difficulty had to come from the relationship and the way they kept screwing it up. Telling that kind of story doesn’t come naturally to me, so I was really proud that it turned out as well as it did.

Did you ever flirt with the cute girl at the comic shop? And how did Project Doom end up?

I did not. She became a big name comics writer and moved to LA. True story. I had no idea she was a big name comics writer until she stopped working there, because I was mostly focused on cute girl at a comic shop. I am so very, very bad at actually flirting with crushes.

Project Doom...still likes to come back to bite me on the ass every few months, but it did end up going live in a marathon twenty-three hour deployment that I never, ever want to do again.

Since Project Doom, there has been Project Chaos (the fifteen hour deployment on that one felt almost easy, although it returns to bite me at least once a week, grr never ever get involved in finance software) and I am currently on an unnamed one that may be dubbed Project Hell.

That one is my biggest yet and currently scheduled to go live on Remembrance Day weekend, because it’s the only weekend long enough to do the deployment. The next available slot after that is Christmas.

You’d better believe that we’re going to make it happen on schedule even if it kills us.

I’m glad it was easier here. A friend sent me a link asking whether it was a valid source of info, which is how I found out. Not the best way, but it could have been worse than a casual BTW somewhere.

I feel the need to rewatch either Galaxy Quest or Sense and Sensibility tonight. He brought some favourite people to life for me and I’m sad to know he won’t be bringing any more.

Is Playing to Win still a wip that will be finished soon? I just reread what has been posted and want to read more, please.

I’ve been feeling guilty about Playing to Win for ages. It’s an example of why I try never to post WIPs. As much as I loved the initial idea, I’ve been unable to figure out where to go with it, and it’s been so long that I don’t think I can recapture what I was doing.

I’m very sorry, but I think it’s gone on permanent hiatus. I should really update the tags on AO3 to reflect that it’s unlikely to ever be finished.

I’m starting small. Just the one robot. For now.

The Roomba Army of Doom is still to come. I really need to figure out how to install repuslors for flight...

So I stopped watching Agents of SHIELD (for multiple reasons), but all of your recent posts make me wonder if I should start watching again. *sigh* It's like, I want to know, but I don't want to get irritated and upset over things again too. Which one do I choose? What are your thoughts on this current season so far?

I’m really enjoying the current season so far. There are some great plot arcs going on, interesting new characters, and every episode has kept me completely absorbed.

A lot depends on what turned you off during last season. If it was the Other SHIELD plot, then this season is already working out better on that front. One of the things I’m liking is the different way the team is approaching the ATCU - cooperation rather than competing on who is the good guy, which is a nice change.

This season does have a lot of focus around Inhumans, so if that’s not your thing, then this season probably won’t do much for you. I’m loving the developments that Skye/Daisy is getting this year.

I think the best that I can say is to give the first couple of episodes a chance and see if you like the way it’s going. The gif sets that I’ve been reblogging are a pretty fair representation of what we’re seeing, so if they’re enticing you, then maybe you should give it another chance.

The only thing I’ll say is that if you’re not a fan of Coulson making tough decisions in grey areas that don’t always mesh with the happy fluffy fanon we built up early on…you may not be happy with everything.

Yeah, if I could only have on OTP in the MCU fandom, it’s C/C every time. There’s something special about their dynamic.

for the ask game: Stony or Stucky?

I came to Marvel through the MCU, so it has to be Stucky. The friends-to-lovers trope is one of my favourites and their story hits that button, but with a whole ton of angst and tragedy added into the mix. Plus, it’s so satisfying to imagine their happy ending together after all the separation.
