We are trying everything we (and our helpers’ network) can think of to find ANYTHING to bridge the time between now and when our regular weekly therapy resumes (possibly next winter, so in around 9 months).
But due to the myth/misconception/excuse that “DID/MPS is ~rare~” there is NOTHING that specialises on DID/MPS or OSDD anywhere near where we live nor in the entire city of Hamburg. Besides regular therapy that is, which is what our health insurance now refuses to continue to pay for.
There is no self-help-group, no therapeutic group or any other kind of treatment available.
The next thing is in Bremen (a SHG with therapeutic assistance), and it sounds awesome, but we can’t afford the train tickets! (We are desperate enough to spend much over an hour on puplic transport for each way… We are lucky enough to be able to use puplic transport. All we lack is the money…)
So now we’re brainstorming and looking and asking around for any possiblity of getting money for train tickets to that self-help-group. No luck so far. Health insurance will definitely not pay. The people from Bremen who run the group said “well you might try the “Fonds for victims of sexual abuse” but they currently need at least 18 MONTHS to decide”. So that doesn’t help us any. And they didn’t have any other ideas where to get money either.
We have thought about founding a new self-help-group, but we simply don’t have the energy or time for that, besides we plan on possibly moving house soon-ish, so it doesn’t make sense to found something new only to be forced to abandon the group after a couple of months.
We really don’t know what else to do!!! We tried everything! What else are we supposed to do!!!!
DID is not rare, there is not really any excuse why there are no (specialised) treatments available in entire states of Germany! Not even self help groups or other kinds of help that might bridge a gap. Nor inpatient treatments or similar. There is simply NOTHING except for a few individual therapists, but then the costs for therapy don’t get covered for the duration that DID treatment can almost always be expected to be needed. Seriously, we have looked and asked and searched for anything from self-help-groups to inpatient treatments and - nothing that we can reach or that insurance will pay. Just nothing.
And the group in Bremen almost feels like a carrot dangling in front of our nose - but just out of reach!
It is beyond frustrating!!! :’(
The message seems clear: Trauma survivors are useless baggage on society and not deserving of support or even basic neccessities like healthcare, nevermind consideration.
Is it any wonder so many of us are bitter and can’t keep the thought away: “The perpetrators are treated so much better!”
