Hey autistic pals! My PhD-program pal Ben is doing a big research study on the autistic experience, for adults 19 and up! He's already got a few hundred participants, but I'd love to help him bump that sample size up! (for ✨ SCIENCE ✨)
One super unique and amazing aspect of this survey is that it does NOT require you to be formally diagnosed! (and you will not be asked to provide documentation) If anything, Ben really REALLY wants self-diagnosed people to participate as well, as a big part of his research is to better understand how much of our understanding of autism might be skewed by metrics outside of the science - such as accessibility to healthcare and autism screenings, financial coverage, etc. (all of which are very prevalent factors in whether or not someone is able to get diagnosed, especially in adulthood).
While this survey is being conducted by a Canadian UNB (University of New Brunswick) PhD student, you do NOT have to be Canadian to participate! The only qualifiers are:
You must be at least 19 years of age or older
You must identify as autistic (formal diagnosis NOT required and you will not be asked to provide documentation if you have one)
You don't have a co-occurring intellectual disability (ex. Down's Syndrome, Pervasive Developmental Delay, and other developmental delay disorders that are typically diagnosed prior to age 18; this is simply to keep the survey focused on autism so as to not skew the results!)
There's quite a bit of ground to cover in this survey, so if you plan on participating, expect it to take 20-30 minutes to complete! (that said it should also save your progress for you if you can't do it all at once, so long as you access the link from the same browser!)
If you're autistic - diagnosed or self-diagnosed - then please consider taking part! Let's make some progress ✊💓
