Self-shame For Being Gay

I’m always amazed and sad at how self-shame for being gay is still very much a thing, even for people who have been out for a long time. Sure, there are people who like their privacy and I can understand that. But, for instance, I have a colleague who’s gay and has been married to his husband for 11 years and everyone just found out he’s gay, cause he would refer to his husband as “this person”. And his excuse was that he’s just very private even tho he’s not in the closet. I don’t see straight people hide their spouses, no matter how private they are. 

I’m not judging him, it just saddens me how even people who are out, still carry this shame and/or fear and don’t even realize it. I guess we never really get past it, do we...

My veg patch is looking pretty shitty this year. My partner scalped it with the digger way back in January and I did not remulch fast enough, and then slugs killed all my tomato plants and most of my pak choi, carrots and beetroot. I let myself get all moody about that and focused on vehicles instead.

This is sort of a self-shaming post to see what I can spur myself into doing here in June.

I do have a load of young strawberry plants in there sweetening up my cereal each morning, and I have a handful of surviving broccoli plants, leeks and lettuce down the far end.

Never had a leek survive to edible adulthood so let's see what can be done this time.

Had several small seizures while trying to cook Christmas dinner, was eventually banished to the living room.

I feel shitty because dad is only semi-mobile and Sid has their baby to wrangle. There's literally only one thing I had to do and I can't even manage that.

I hate myself.
