So I've been struggling with my body and my eating disorder for a long time now. I never look in mirrors, I never take any pictures below my chest. Thank you so much to everyone who wished me a happy birthday today. i've been in a really bad place lately and my birthday is never an easy time for me. i'm so lucky to have some really wonderful and amazing friends who not only put up with me but also go out of their way to help me and to make me feel loved. i'm still struggling and today wasn't perfect because i'm a mess, but it ended up being a really good birthday thanks to the friends i have and to new friends i've hopefully made tonight. thank you again to everyone who wished me a happy birthday. #harrypottercosplay #lunalovegood #harrypotter #selfiesforselfcare

Super-quick makeup look from my @kikomilano order which just arrived. Literally all I've got on is lippie, brows, mascara and highlight. I even forgot to use moisturiser so my skin looks dry AF, but I'm having a good hair day so so cares anyway. 😂😜 The purple Super Colour mascara gives great length and definition. A tiny bit of clumping with 2 coats but nothing hideous, and it makes my poker straight eyelashes curl. I'm reliving my youth when coloured mascara was really hot. The lipstick is a limited edition from the Summer 2.0 collection and is called Desire Turquoise. It smells divine, is moisturising and will be very long lasting. I swatched it and removed it soon after but it was reasonably hard to wipe off with makeup remover so I think it's going to wear well. The water eyeshadow (which I'm wearing as a highlight) is shade 208 and is a lovely shiny gold. How can you be confident in your body? I think a lot to do with it is being comfortable in your skin. I've always enjoyed hanging out in the buff, especially as I've gotten older. If you like your naked body then there's a good chance you'll like the way it looks in clothes, too. But how do you get there?! I can heartily recommend two things and you could say they're both a form of exposure therapy. One is spending time in front of the mirror turning this way and that examining the bits of yourself you rarely see. Tell yourself you've got a cute butt, jiggle a bit, be silly and make yourself smile. Then when you've made friends with the mirror, get a good friend to take LOTS of photos of you. Clothed, in lingerie or in the buff, depending on how you feel. Look at yourself from all angles. When I first started blogging 6-7 years ago I would often wrinkle my nose at a new angle of myself, before going back to it and falling in love with it, and with myself a little bit more each time. I pieced myself back together bit by bit. All the parts that had been taken away from me by a sexist media or entitled men who told me in no uncertain terms how I didn't meet their standards, miraculously healed. It's great that my husband loves my body but ultimately MY opinion of myself is the most fulfilling. Now I need no one's approval but MY OWN. And its still a work in progress as I age, but it's the most worthwhile work I've ever done. It's NEVER too late to fall in love with yourself.
