“Deliberate avoidance of evidence about the social impact of one's decisions, or “willful ignorance”, has an important impact on prosocial behavior. For example, Niehaus (2014) argues that donors to charitable causes remain willfully ignorant of the effectiveness of the charity in order to maintain a feeling of warm glow about their contributions. Another example relates to the phenomenon of climate change. Despite the longstanding claim by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) that the scientific evidence for anthropogenic climate change is “unequivocal” (IPCC, 2007), substantial minorities in many countries do not believe that climate change is man-made, or even real.”

It’s because nobody in the US trains their dogs for shit or for that matter spends hardly any time walking or playing with them so the minute they leave the dog destroys the house
aaah alright that would explain it. why have a dog then my god? i also find dogs annoying and destructive and needy, which is why i don't really like them and wouldn't have one. it's like people don't think about a pet as something they have to also plan their lives around, if you want to have a pet you need to think realistically about what their needs are, and what effort you're willing to make to accommodate them. if it's too much for you then don't have the pet. leaving them in crates for hours of the day is imo animal cruelty, just don't have a dog.
