Just some random numbers for the comedy asks - 7, 17, 27, 37, 47 :D
Thank you!!
7. Favourite Friendship
Oh I think I’m going to go very mainstream and say Greg Davies and Roisin Conaty! I’ve lost interest in most of them and quite a few just aren’t friends anymore.
Richard Herring and Andrew Collins, obviously, for old time’s sake, get a special mention.
17. Most Attractive Comedian
Tim. Key.
27. Last Stand-Up Show you watched
Tony Law months and months ago. I don’t know why I’ve seen so little comedy this year.
37. First Comedy Show you watched.
I have memories of the original Shooting Stars run but I think I was still very small when it ended! I caught glimpses of Green Wing when it was on and I wasn’t really allowed up that late, I remember the scene with Martin wearing the shark fin he bought on eBay and thinking ‘yep, this is my new favourite thing.’ which stuck with me until I could buy the DVDs a few years later and decide that it was DEFINITELY my favourite thing.
Guess your favourite comedian’s favourite potato chips flavour.
Uh. Well who’s even my favourite now???
I need to go and see new people. Everyone’s pretty famous now and therefore (WE CAN ADMIT IT) a bit more boring.
@selfishjean replied to your photo postL That sounds amaziiing also Aaron Tveit omg!!
I’m just getting to my replies now but yessssssssss he was GREAT as Christian! He was still idealistic and a little naive, but a bit more suave and had a touch more depth than movie Christian, who I also loved, but this was a really interesting, fresh perspective on the character.
I had an amazing start to this week, and I can’t believe I waited this long to post it. I got to see @selfishjean in person and show her my city! Yes, she is just as fun, sweet, hilarious, and wonderful as she seems online! Hopefully you can come back to visit again soon, friend, when our weather is a little better!
Here we are at the Capitol Building, after walking through the Jefferson Building at the Library of Congress. I really liked both pictures and couldn’t decide which was better, so I am just going to post them both. :)
selfishjean replied to your post: thoughts about the new crazy ex-GF ep?
That’s such great meta!! Also the thing about the number of songs totally makes sense, genius!
why thank you! i’m glad that my generally unorganized thoughts about this show that i love are interesting to read.
Orange is the perfect colour to annotate Eleanor & Park. I hope you don't mind stickers @selfishjean
Book meme
A book I love: I normally say “Lycidas” by Christoph Marzi, but just this once - “Flesh and Fire” by Laura Anne Gilman. It has wine magic!! And an asexual protagonist. Which I never realised while reading because he seemed so perfectly normal to me ♡.
A book I hate: “Full Tilt: Ireland to India with a bicycle” by Dervla Murphy. I wanted to love it, but Dervla Murphy is not someone I would ever ever be friends with. Also, she ships her bike from Ireland to Iran or sth and starts there. Stupid title.
A book that is undervalued: “Red Earth and Pouring Rain" by Vikram Chandra. Really epic, very poetic, and great for understanding the feeling of a country by looking at the people who inhabit it.
A book that is overvalued: Anything with an unnecessarily dirty/sexual/faecal title. I am fine with Erotica with sexy names, but you do not need to name your thinly veiled autobiography / super trendy “anarchic” outpourings after vulgar names for bodyparts if even Casanova didn’t sink that low.
A book you want to see a movie version of: Everything in the Cosmere (by Brandon Sanderson); particularly Warbreaker and the entire Stormlight Archive. (What a shocking choice, I know.) Tbf though, I want a series rather than a movie.
A book you’re currently reading: “Pour Me. A Life” by AA Gill ♡♡♡ and “The Everything Store. Jeff Bezos and the Age of Amazon” by Brad Stone. (Needed a second one bc Adrian’s writing always makes me so emotional.)
A book you want to finish: “Tigana” by Guy Gavriel Kay. Started the audiobook but it’s really dense and sometimes difficult to focus without the text in front of you. (I love GGK, and I know it will be worth it.)
Next book on the list: “Lines in the Sand” by AA Gill. Yes, I am reading through my collection.
Worst ending: Uhm, that’s very spoilery??? I will say it’s a Kai Meyer book, and if you kknow Kai Meyer, you will have heard of this.
Following the example of @selfishjean (ty for tagging me), and tagging my Goodreads friends: @chasingheadlights & @squeesbysophie. Add “Sovotchka” on Goodreads if you want.
