It's now been five years since the KHUX finale came out, and I wanted to make something for my selfship with Clio to mark the day. Happy birthday, Techne ^-^

This is one of the two compositions that was presented to me when I commissioned my friend Mimi to draw Techne around my birthday. I really loved both of them, but eventually asked them to go with the one of Techne holding a little orb depicting Aria and Clio together.

However, the other one still inspired me, so I've decided to have a go at it myself here for their birthday!~ It's quite high-resolution so that you can still make out the details of Clio and Aria in the picture frame, so feel free to zoom in and have a look at those if you'd like.

As the entity created when Aria's darkness consumed Clio's heart, Techne "inherited" the memories that each of us held of the other, even though they awoke in a different world without either one present. So they have Aria's memories of Clio, and Clio's memories of Aria. And this means that memories we both shared between us are their strongest of all.

I was really quite happy with how this turned out by the end, and so I hope that others like it too ^-^

hello it's ten past one in the morning but I fell down a rabbit hole again and have resurfaced with a new name for my Arilio fankid!

Say hello - again - to Techne!

This name is primarily derived from the philosophical concept (which originates as τέχνη/tékhnē), which literally means "art" or "craft" but also more generally relates to concepts of practical knowledge, and whether or not its application was virtuous seemed to be a matter of debate. However, this name also phonetically has ties to tektite, a type of dark glass created by meteor impacts (since the name of *this* stems from τηκτός/tēktós).

I think the change suits them very well, and has a lot of potential to work with as far as symbolism/imagery is concerned, which is fun. Plus, the timing of me learning about the concept feels very fitting, considering I literally only yesterday (or, well, now, Friday) decided to make their personal Keyblade an inverted version of Fortune Gear, and I called it Meteor Gear. Which I was already running away with for Reborn reasons, but in doing so managed to tie to the concept of techne via the shared first half of the word tektite. Also, their name being Techne means they get to be called Tech as a nickname, if needs be. And I just think that's fun!

For the record, the name I've been using for this OC up until this point was Arete - and I do still like that to an extent, because it's also very fun in its meaning as a word, but I'm excited to use Techne for them instead moving forwards. I hope that this makes sense!! I plan to go back through and update any previous referrals to them in posts and tags soon, to have the new name, but.. not right this second, given the time of night. I will try to get around to this promptly to avoid any confusion, though!!

Techne is real again!!!

I got Legends Z-A for my birthday and decided to make them as my player character for the game! I’m excited to experience it, and do so from their perspective, even if it’s a different game to the one they were actually meant to be the player of.. ^-^

A slightly-clearer closeup of Techne's face, incidentally - I wanted to strike a decent balance between how I imagine them looking and how I actually got them to look in-game in the beta tests, hence why some traits have changed (such as their hair being parted over their right eye now instead of left - which probably means I'll have to move what it's meant to be covering over to that side as well).

The lighting on this shot is rather intense, but they're meant to have dark red eyes and dark green hair worn up in a ponytail (I probably made it a bit too teal here, oops). Freckles like both Aria and Clio, facial features probably moreso like Clio, but some (like the rounded face and lip shape) more like Aria. Plus of course the slit pupils, like Aria - albeit I might not keep those in their design; it may just be that they gain slit pupils under certain circumstances. Pointed human ears like Clio, plus lynx-like cat ears like Aria.. build and complexion more like Clio, and right-handed like Clio, but a fast and ruthless fighting style more like Aria.

They truly are quite the amalgam, aren't they?~
