Each Divine is prayed to and worshiped in different ways in Memories. Though many people mainly worship one Divine, it is not uncommon to worship more than one of the Divine's. Many households tend to "pass down" the main worship of a specific Divine, the Matron as the symbol of New Life and the Home is very often assumed to be the main Divine of many households.
There are a few notable families that are known for being devotees of other divines however. One of which being the Ro'meave's, which are known for the worship of the Protector. And another being the Lycan's, which aren't know for their worship of any specific Divine.
However, it is not uncommon for members of families to have "secondary" or "tertiary" worship of another Divine. Typically notable for being prayed to, or otherwise noted in these families less than their main patron.
The Ro'meave's have secondary worship of the Matron as something they are well known for. Though they are seen as an oddity since they mention the Great Mother almost as much as their main patron. It is something that earns them a good reputation however since the Matron is well worshiped in many households.
There are also agnostic and atheistic members of society, and I'll probably discuss in another post atheism in Memories.
Now then, into the differences of worship for each of the divine! (˶ˆᗜˆ˵)
The Matron is considered the "Great Mother", or "Great Lady", by many who worship the divines. She is the most common Divine you will see in a household as She represents home, new life, and the family. Her devotees typically will pray to her for guidance and assistance, as it is believed that She brings people to better places and creates a loving environment. Her devotees tend to ask for forgiveness of their wrongdoings and those that are particularly devout can be noted by having the fleur de lis sown into the fabric of their clothes.
The Protector is considered the "Good Guard", or "Great Shield", by many who worship Her. She is more commonly worshiped by those who work in positions of protecting others, or those that have been protected in vulnerable moments[Therapists, Social Workers, etc.]. She represents the weak, bravery, and places of safety. Her devotees often pray for the ability to steel themselves and for safety, it is believed that She provides a safety net for ones actions and that she allows for Her devotees to find bravery in their actions. Particularly devout worshipers of the Protector often have Her symbol tattooed into their skin.
The Fury is considered the "Blessed Wrath", or "Great Blade", by those who worship Her. She is often worshiped by soldiers and fighters, as She represents necessary battles, honorable deaths, and strength. Her devotees often pray for strength, the ability to stand up for oneself, and to remain steady in times of stress. It is believed that She allows for steady aim, bloodshed being kept to a minimum, and the resilience to keep fighting until the battle is done. Particularly devout worshipers of the Fury often will have Her symbol engraved or carved into the weapon they are most attached to, or into a weapon that has been inherited from previous generations.
The Keeper is considered the "Holy Teacher", or "Great Scholar", by those who worship Him. He is often worshiped by those who seek knowledge and those who desire to teach. He represents a desire for knowledge, wisdom in ones actions, and scribes. His devotees often pray for new sources of knowledge, the understanding of what one is learning, and the understanding of ones peers. He is often believed to allow for the sanctity of the library and truth in what is being taught. Particularly devout worshipers of the Keeper tend to have His symbol on that which they use to write or research.[Emmalyn has a sticker with it on her library card + another on her laptop]
The Wanderer is considered the "Great Stranger" by those who worship Them. They are often worshiped by those who travel and those who seek new places. They represent wanderlust, the open road, and what one may find in new places. Often Their devotees will pray to Them for a safe place to sleep on the road, new stories to share, and acceptance in a new place. They are believed to inspire people to provide open arms to a stranger, and to bring stories from around the Realm to those that wish to share. The particularly devout tend to keep Their symbol with them, but it comes in many different forms.
The Destroyer is often just referred to by His title, even by His most devout. He is worshiped by those who have been born of destruction and have found comfort within it. He represents the changing of time, the cycle of death that comes before life, the destruction of life and the necessity of it. His devotee's pray to him for the understanding of their wrongdoing, for the way time might change ones life, and for the hand of destruction to pass only when needed. He is believed to be the cause behind natural disasters, the passage between life and death, and bloodshed even when unnecessary. The particularly devout keep His symbol close to their chests, usually in the form of a necklace.
