and now imagine an au where ogred the criminal lives in a swamp not far from a little kingdom called deecee. he is very isolated and everybody is terrified of him but then one day exiled criminal weirdos flood his home bc the purist, pathologically anti-crime and by-the-book wannabe king lordonald can't even stand the sight of them. he wants a perfect, clean kingdom, so he exiles every imperfect, unclean subject to the swamp. but ogred is like "no thanks. i love my peace and quiet, so let's get you all back to where you came from". he meets donkeybe who shows him the way to deecee where they win the tournament and lordonald promises to take the criminals back if ogred rescues the girl he wants to marry to become a real king. ogred & donbe accept the deal and off they go to rescue princess lizzie who is not too keen to become queen and whose kleptomania and other assorted dark/criminal tendencies flare up each night and only a true love's kiss can help her w/ this problem. she is rescued and she & ogred fall in love on their way back. she confesses to donbe how she is disgusted with her dark side. ogred - about to confess his love for her - overhears their convo but misunderstands it and thinks she is disgusted with him, so he delivers her to lordonald and goes back to his swamp, heartbroken. donbe however doesn't let him wallow and tells him she wasn't talking about him and he should hurry bc she is getting married to the wrong guy. so they race to deecee and ogred interrupts the ceremony to tell lizzie that lordonald only wants to marry her to become king. the sun sets and lizzie's kleptomania kicks in. she steals a bunch of stuff from the guests and it all falls out of her wedding gown. lordonald - upon discovering her criminal inclinations - rejects her, saying that she is tainted. he orders ogred to be killed and lizzie to be locked up. donbe & friends come to the rescue. ogred and lizzie kiss. during the kiss she compulsively steals his watch, then sheepishly gives it back, apologizing. he tells her there is nothing wrong with her and that she is perfect as she is - thieving and all that. they get married in the swamp and live happily ever after. the end

May I help you out? As for the biodad question - there are a lot of clues that in my opinion speak against that theory...

Thank you so much for the help, it's greatly appreciated! I'd picked up on some of the different clues against the biodad (great phrase btw) theory e.g. the different girls etc so I'm glad I wasn't imagining things! I guess I'm just trying to figure it all out in my head... 

And the post by roominthecastle pretty much sums up how I feel about Red/ Lizzie (even the Hannibal/ Clarice vibes), as well as 'voicing' my own ideas about the parental aspect of their relationship. Thank you so much for linking me to it :)

Six interesting things about me... um, let's see.

A real life former history professor of Chistchurch College of Oxford University offered to write me letters of recommendation to real universities the other day. I still can't quite wrap my head around that being a thing that happened but yes. XD

I still don't always know my right from my left even though I do fine with picturing 3D objects?? idk but it's true.

I'm totally vain about my hair and i'm trying to grow it out to hip length like a witch or a mermaid XD -- so aside from the relief of getting rid of that tack wig, I'm actually a little sad to see the end of Long Hair Liz ;))

selinabln You apparently backed out of our discussion which is a shame. I would have liked to know what you have to say. We started with one topic (how could Red have known the song?) but we both added a few new questions and I would have liked to know your opinion regarding my arguments.

I can only imagine why you didn't answer. These topics are old so I can understand if such a discussion also gets old and perhaps annoying. You already led successful a few discussions in the past 10 months as you said so you might just have lost interest. Most likely you found my arguments pretty dense, I do after all not share your opinion regarding the relationship of Red and Lizzy so you didn't bother to respond to it. That's OK I do pretty much the same every time someone is telling me we have an answer yet. I'm sorry and it might be stubbornness but I kind of refuse to accept a hesitated (seven seconds in total) answer as truth. I would say it is gullibility to believe a man who hesitates such a long time while he supposedly is telling the "truth". But that also is another topic which has been discussed a lot since episode 10 aired last year.

  Anyway I can live with that. I made my point clear and I completely adhere to my theories the same way you and the other Lizzington shippers do adhere to you theories. It's what we do, shipping is our business. The best thing about it is that I, respectively Daddygate, has the devil's proof on its side. I would never claim that Daddygate is the one true answer because I simply can't know it. Like I said as Daddygater I also don't believe his "answer" the way you did. Therefore you can in fact claim to have the answer and to have the truth based on his one little word. As a result you have to "kill" the possibility of him being her father for every single scene we have seen so far. You have to explain the scene in a way that he isn't her father because ... it is a fact for you and the truth. As a Daddygater I do pretty much the same with one single difference: I try to explain every scene with him BEING her father. And because I never claimed to have the truth on my side (and I think the Daddy -Theory in general can't claim to have the truth at least since episode 10) I can live with both possibilities: him being not her father and him being her father. As long as I can explain just one single scene with him being her father the Daddy Theory is established thanks to the devil's proof.

  Back to our main topic. I think the "Music Box" is one of these scenes. You can explain it perfectly why Red knew the song. A single call would have been enough. But I can explain it too. There are too many "if", "when" and "maybe" in both our explanations. We don't know how much contact they had, we don't even know HOW they had contact. We don't know what they were talking about. Everything could have happened. It could have happened the way you described it but it also could have happened the way I described it. The "Music Box" is one of those scenes which allowed to establish the Daddy Theory. And that's all I wanted. I can't proof it but I can establish it. For now, that's enough.
