—✹ HER BODY trembled from what she had done. Sylvia’s eyes widened from seeing the vast amount of damage she had done. Were there lives that she just ended to keep the peace? But what kind of peace was that? It was murder. Her shaking fingers tapped the button at either side of her jaw that caused her mask to fold in on itself and down into her suit’s collar. 

“Is this what it’s like? Being a hero?” she asked in disbelief. Sylvia couldn’t even remember how she did this. She reached down, light shined from her hands, as she raced to heal them before she would have to do something drastic. Something Dad told her never to do. “This was a mistake. I’m sorry. I’m sorry.” 

She thought back to when her life was simple, back to when heroes stayed on the page and their mentors did too. She squeezed her eyes shut, her eyelids trembling as tears started to well. She needed a mentor. Someone to guide her. She was so lost. She wasn’t a hero. Wasn’t a peace-granting god. She wasn’t ever going to have a life of simplicity.
