An evergreen or semi-evergreen shrub, Colquhounia coccinea (scarlet-flowered colquhounia) has leaves which are white beneath and with orange flower spikes in late summer. This plant can be damaged by a hard frost and grows best in a well-drained soil in full sun, sheltered from cold, dry winds.
