I’m so tempted to write my senior capstone paper on Byler and queerbaiting via dialogue and cinematic choices, specifically how queerbaiting is a “for profit” tactic that keeps (largely queer) fanbases engaged with a specific show…lmk if you have any recommendations of scholarly (peer-reviewed) sources on this

Progress Update #2
Hey guys! Let's get into this update...
What's been happening over the past 2 weeks?
Well, my topic and deliverable has both changed... My topic is much broader now, focusing in on many different cultures and how they have made an impact on America. My deliverable is no longer a YouTube docu-series but rather a social media campaign. I know, crazy changes. But, it's for the better. So, I have been thinking about how exactly I want to do my social media campaign and also the cultures I would like to research for it.
What's coming up for the next 2 weeks?
I plan on continuing to work on visualizing and planning out the social media. By the end of the 2 weeks I hope to have the social media up and running with a post as well.
Hiccups/Hurdles/AHA moments
Getting rid of my initial plans for the docu-series was definitely difficult but once I really started thinking about my new deliverable, I realized that the ideas for that were much stronger and impactful than my previous deliverable ideas.
While thinking about ideas for my social media campaign, there were many moments where I felt as though the lightbulb in my head has FINALLY turned on. For example, I figured that doing two posts a week would be good with the first post being an introduction/information about the culture of the week and the second post would be a video of me trying out different things related to that culture.
Deliverable Drafts / Visual Documentation
I do not have much yet but I plan on creating a proper schedule and the social media itself soon.
Where I am on my timeline
I am only at the beginning of my timeline but I will continue to put my effort into making this project the best it can be.
Thank you for reading through all of this! Good luck on your projects besties! <3
It's the fourth day of spring semester and it feels like 1000x more work having classes that meet on both Tuesday and Thursday (last semester all of my classes only met once a week, and I only had classes Monday Tuesday Wednesday; my week feels a lot longer having Thursday classes too)
Also (and this is going to be long) let me tell you a story because it's going to drive me insane.
So I'm taking my senior capstone course this semester (am I a senior? How much longer am I going to be an undergrad? Who knows). And there's this annoying guy in it--and boy do I know he's annoying, because he was in one of my classes last semester, and also I've known him since high school. He's a year older than me, but we were both in a trivia team needs club in hs; and I didn't find him super annoying then, because it was only an hour or two, once a week, and the rules of the trivia club dictated that basically any time we were actually doing questions you had to shut up, so I only really heard him talk when he was answering, or if we were (as a group, not like the two of us) talking and whatever in between questions or afterward. I don't think I've ever in my life actually had a one on one conversation with him, and I've very rarely if ever) actually spoken to him. Anyway, he transferred to my university at the beginning of my first year, and I was like, 'wow, that's the kid from high school' and like waved at him once or something maybe. But then this one time, while I was eating lunch with my friend after class in my first semester, he came up to where we were sitting and was like 'hi!' and started a conversation, and then explained to my friend how we know each other. And I'm paraphrasing here, but he said something like 'yeah she was that cute quiet girl that sat in the back and knew the answers' which, like. I was shocked. And also weirded out. Like, I'll give him 50%--I was quiet, and I did sit in the back. But I definitely didn't know many answers (more than I buzzed in but not by much), and in early high school? I was definitely not cute. Besides, I've never really spoken to him before today??? Okay, so he said that, and I was immediately uncomfortable. He left not long after, and my friend and I continued lunch. The next time he tried to talk to me couldn't have been very long after that, but I was uncomfy and confused and basically this is a long winded way of saying that I ignored him every time he tried to talk to me until he got the hint and stopped trying. (Tangentially relevant, he's a bio double major and he's been in a few of one of my friend's chem classes and she also finds him supremely annoying and I don't think hates him would be going too far.) So, he was in my american lit class last semester, and he was super annoying--he picked a fight with our professor that got shut down immediately, and basically acts like he knows everything all the time (granted he knows a fair bit, but that doesn't make it any less annoying. Besides, his voice is super annoying on its own). So this all leads up to this semester, when I logged into my class for the first time on Tuesday and he's in it, which I probably could've gotten through again. I wasn't thrilled, but it was going to be okay. BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE! As part of the senior capstone course, we get put into small groups to lead discussions about the texts, which we did live in our class meeting today (the professor let us choose which text we wanted). I didn't have a preference, so I just got chucked in a group at the end. And guess what? (I'm sure you know where this is headed. :/ ) He's in my group. So now I have to talk to him, and work with him. And I'm not looking forward to it at all.
tldr: (is this appropriate? I've never written one before) There's an annoying kid in my class and I have to work with him (also he might've had a crush on me in high school which makes me uncomfy)
Anyway, thanks for listening to my rant, I'm going to watch criminal minds to drown my sorrows now.
