This week has been a rough week for me. On Monday, I was really sick. I woke up in the morning at around 5:45 and for some reason, I was feeling really weird. My stomach hurt a lot and no matter how much I turned to find that comfortable position, my stomach just hurt even more. It got to a point where I stood up and walked around a bit. I even told my parents. The area that hurt was similar to that of indigestion. My mom was convinced that it was so I took medicine on an empty stomach and just lied down for a bit. My grandma rubbed and patted my back (more like pounded) and I ended up throwing up. It wasn't that bad because I actually did feel better. I decided to go to school because Asians have this thing about not missing school unless you're like dying. I went but I felt queasy again. After you throw up, usually you get a bad headache due to the pressure that is given off. It was like a cycle. For the first 15 minutes my stomach felt better but my head would hurt like crazy, then for 10 minutes, my stomach would hurt so much that I felt like throwing up, and then at the end, I would. I came home, slept, and went to the doctor's. They said I had enteritis. Enteritis, or 장염 in Korean, is an inflammation in your intestines. It causes your stomach to flip over (not literally) and be "very unhappy."
After a set of shots, I came home and slept for hours, and then worked on the load of make-up work that I had to do (I missed the Friday before that too because of tennis). I took medication for the past 3 days and I felt better. Because of this, I even missed SEOMUN (a "UN" conference). I WAS THE FRICKING DELEGATE OF CHINA. You don't know how upset the teacher was when I told him I couldn't go. He just kept repeating, "You know how important your role is, right?" I thought I got better so I regretted not going so much. Also, I found out that one girl left school too right after I did. But get this: she was healthy in the morning. After I said that I was leaving because I was literally DEADLY SICK, she laughed and said she was going to go to the nurse too. She never came back to class. I was dumbfounded when my friend told me this.
But today, something else happened. For enteritis, in severe cases, not only do you throw up and get headaches, you get diarrhea and fever too. I thought I was completely healed but as soon as school got out, I got really bad stomachaches. Afterwards, diarrhea. I wonder what might have happened if I went to SEOMUN. In the end though, I'm still stuck at home. Welcome to my life.
