In this GMV, I wanted to capture Sephiroth's sense of betrayal and surrender to his false new identity.
Every time I stitch dialogue and scenes together, I am reminded just how incredible the developers at Square Enix are for capturing a full range of emotions. Sephiroth is such a nuanced villain - his tragic upbringing and discovery of the truth is so salient and relatable.
Hearing his anguish juxtaposed against Cloud's optimism is like squeezing a lemon wedge over a cut. 😭

Gosh, it's been a hot minute since I created a Sephiroth GMV. 😚
I've been holding onto this musical score for a while, playing with the idea of how to capture Zack and Cloud's involvement in the Nibelheim Incident. The music seems to circle and build toward an epiphany, so I knew it had to focus on Cloud rediscovering Zack. But how to go about layering the different perspectives proved to be a challenge... 🥲
The moment I start arranging scenes, these edits have a tendency to take on a life of their own. But, boy, am I happy with it!

Each fic features a different "flavor" of Sephiroth paired with a female protaganist and her quirky entourage.
📕Hidden Machinery is my love letter to anyone who has survived the corporate grind and found themselves unexpectedly seen by the most powerful man in the room.
🪶Raw Exposure is a sweeping journey across Gaia, hunting mako fiends alongside a brooding First Class General whose composure frays in the wild.
🥀The Art of Misdirection follows one woman’s desperate effort to release her late uncle’s discovery into the world, only to find herself entangled with a man whose interest may protect her, ruin her, or consume everything she loves.

Hey guys! Here’s another edit I’m excited to share. 😝
This GMV reimagines Sephiroth’s time in Shinra Manor—not as an obsession with the Jenova Project, but as a search for deeper knowledge of the Planet and the Lifestream.
The music reminded me of Interstellar, which inspired this juxtaposition of Bugenhagen’s teachings on the Lifestream with Sephiroth’s reflections on mako and materia.
Through materia and the echoes of the Lifestream, Sephiroth uncovers truths Shinra tried to bury: the cost of power, the burden of knowledge, and the secrets of the Ancients.
By reframing his time in Shinra’s library, this video also ties into Cloud’s journey—revealing not only what materia is, but what it demands, what mako does, and how the pursuit of truth can break even a hero.
