It’s one thing when you’re not doing well in classes, it’s another when the the two main professors you have call you out/ straight up pick on you for not doing well. I’m a shit student, but god damn it, I’m a student, do you know how discouraging it is to get snapped at every class only to be caught in the hall to have a professor literally tell you “I had higher expectations for you. You’ve disappointed me” even though you scored higher than 2/3rds of the class? Do you know how hard it is to have people distrust you or refuse to study with you because obviously you’re a bad student if the professor gets after you? Do you know how hard it is to be dealing with this in silence because everyone around you has their own problems and because you’re the youngest your problems are seen as unimportant and insignificant? People have time to vent to me but don’t have time for me. If I can’t vent about school how can I trust anyone to listen when I open up and start talking about the stuff that’s actually stressing me out?
