Idea: Put together a jukebox mod of eurobeat midis, like how you put together a metal midi one for Demonsteele. :D
Is there even a lot of midi Eurobeat out there? That’s a lot more niche of a genre than heavy metal!
How does Corzo drift between dimensions? Does he just take portals that lead him to odd places, or does something about his nature let him do that? Also, how do all the weapons and stuff he finds follow him from place to place too? Most mods don't answer these kinds of dumb questions but I figure if anyone would, it'd be you, lore nerd that you are. <3
It’s not a very satisfying answer, but the truth is that Corzo’s just an observant fellow and he’s picked up a lot of tricks over the years by watching different people and creatures, so he’s figured outdimensional hopping through a lot of different means. He can jump through portals, he can hitch a ride on an unaware otherdimensional critter, he can do a ritual to form gateways, he can head to a Hell or a Heaven and jump out onto another Earth, or he can just…do a stroll sideways and phase out.
For the weapons, this is actually one of the reasons I intentionally went with a sort of low-tech, ordinary weaponset. I wanted weapons that would reasonably be commonplace in any given setting; the weapons don’t really follow him, they’re just there. The Thunderhawk might be special and unique, but a double-barrel shotgun or a grease gun is less unique–one is a common staple of home defense and hunting, the other is something easily craftable and common for DIY enthusiasts and black market salesmen.
The place where this becomes a questionmark is with Basilissa--picking her up, logically she should be with him the whole time, right? This is admittedly where gameplay and story kind of segregate a little bit.But after some thinking, I figured a good justification would be her getting sealed away. This means Corzo when breaks the seal, he only breaks the seal on THAT plane. Whenever they travel to a new plane, she gets sealed again and so he needs to find her to break the seal once more for her. She’s constantly being locked away again and again, which doesn’t do much for her temper.
He can hold onto equipment he’s really fond of (hence the cvars to spawn with different weapons, including Basilissa), but most of the time he just goes with the flow and lets whatever happens happen.
Wild guess here, but is the demon that made the Thunderhawk supposed to be a tengu? Or something like it? I know that they are traditionally depicted as a bird, but the Chinese demon they got their name from, Tiangou, was a dog. So, that would explain the dog and bird claws on the gun.
Nope, not a tengu. You’re on a decent trail, but think less eastern.
Hey Term, got any sweet sweet lore on the new items for Heretic in HND? I'm particularly interested in the Dead Man's Holster(because who isn't?) and the Dead Radio; those distant ghostly sounds of battle when you sit and listen to the gun spirits is super cool!
This is something I’d rather fill in if I do any further updates to the mod, slipping in bits of LORE one by one through the in-pk3 files. But I will say the Dead Radio is very much inspired by one of my favorite horror movies, R-Point.
If you haven’t seen it, or are generally interested in the premise of “military squadron meets spoopy ghosts”, I very much suggest giving it a watch. This next part is a very early spoiler, but a spoiler nonetheless.
In R-Point, the mission is kickstarted by a radio that broadcasts out an SOS from a dead battalion of soldiers. Shortly after they arrive on the island, they’re accosted by gunfire and engage in a short skirmish with an unknown enemy force. They trade gunfire back and forth, providing a short battle before the captain takes a rocket launcher and blows up the enemy encampment. They go and investigate and find that (surprise!) it was ghosts. There was of dead soldiers that have been dead for a long, long time, and their ghosts had picked up their weapons and started fighting again.
I thought this was awesome as hell.
So the Dead Radio works a little bit in the same way–it calls out SOS across the beyond and a small squadron from WWII that died during a skirmish comes out to provide backup. The sounds of the battle that killed them still rings in their ear, but they continue to march on for the red, white, and blue. Even in another world against something they have no comprehension of, they fight to protect their homeland and the people who come from it.Of course, it happens that Corzo isn’t too bad a fighter himself, but eh. Ghost logic.
So I was watching the last devstream and got to a part where you mention that Basilissa was the sister of the demon bound into GMOTA's Blazter. Are you doing your own version of the Weaselverse now? :V
Kegan and I just thought it would be funny and cute, so we did it.
Does this mean there’s a SHARED CONTINUITY at play? Well, maybe. Or maybe not.
Wouldn't you still be limited to Z& levels of coding seeing as how Samsara is real big about multiplayer and GZ's multiplayer is... GZ's multiplayer? :V
Yeah, more thinking theoretically here.
You could always add more lore. What about the tickets, Term? What about the tickets?!?
I’m surprised that the tickets have gotten such a reception. People seem quite interested in it.
If I do another update, I’ll probably need to integrate them as a regular pickuppable item, somehow.
