When Sera and Ran first start dating, Ran expects a lot of things.

She expects that Sera will more often than not be late for their dates. She expects her to forget them. She expects they won't message often. She expects to be abandoned when a case is dropped into Sera's lap.

Ran was okay with this.

So Ran is confused when Sera is always on time for their dates, and on the occasions she's late, she always messages ahead of time.

She has never once forgotten they had planned a date.

Ran's phone is constantly chiming from texts Sera has sent her, from her asking about her day, to images of cute animals and foods she's seen and eaten and jokes and memes that have Ran's shoulders shaking in silent laughter.

When a case happens, Sera always tries to include Ran in some way. Whether it's asking if it's okay for her to investigate or asking for her help in some way, never is Ran's feelings or opinions undervalued.

Ran is the happiest she has been in a long time and it makes her realise that no, she wasn't okay with everything she had believed before. And she didn't have to be.

Now she knew what being someone's equal was truly like and she knows that before Sera, she had never felt it before.
