The power hardly ever goes out in Anistar, especially for something as mundane as a simple storm. But today it's especially bad apparently, since they're sitting in the dark bundled up in blankets while the rain pelts hard at the windows. It's not so hard to pass the time while they wait, it's nice to just be in eachother's presence just as always. It's comfortable and sweet, but Red decides to make it a bit more interesting.
"What if…everytime the thunder rolls in, I kiss you." He suggests only half innocently, "and maybe the louder the thunder is, the deeper the kiss will be."
It wasn’t very often that a storm rolled though that was bad enough to knock out power. This was one of those storms, deep grey clouds rolling in and turning the blue afternoon skies into something sinister and dark. Most of their teams had either filtered outside knowing a storm was approaching, while others stuck to the indoors to hunker down. Serena knew it was going to be quite the storm, receiving several alerts on her phone in warning. It wasn’t uncommon to see people taking walks through their neighborhood, but as the winds began to pick up, it was practically deserted.
They’d chosen to hunker down in the living room, Serena watching him play a game on the TV. It only began to grow darker, rain began to patter against in the window in large drops. Flashes of lightning cleaved through the dark, one bolt striking down within the city itself. The accompanying thunder sounded like the crack of a whip, happening hardly a second after the strike. The noise slowly dissolved into low rumbling, enough to shake the house slightly.
Serena had been opening her mouth to make a comment, when everything in house suddenly shut off. There was a resounding silence that fell over them, only the sound of the rain hitting the windows filled that void momentarily, before Serena laughed quietly.
“Well,” she starts, standing up from the couch, “at least I have plenty of candles!” She started placing candles around the house, making sure they were away from curtains and other flammable things, before enlisting the help of Merlin to light them all the same time.
When she returned, she saw Red had gotten up to fetch a multitude of blankets from the linen closet, already bundled up himself despite not really needing to. It was likely just for comfort, and for her, but she wasn’t complaining. Seeing him among the blankets was really cute.
Serena settled in the blanket pile next to him, wiggling her way beneath and to get closer to him. The candles lit up in the house cast the rooms in a soft glow, flashes of lightning outside also momentarily making things brighter. It’d been so long since she had to deal with a power outage that she wasn’t sure about what to do. It’d probably be best to stay off her phone in case of an emergency, not wanting to deplete the battery.
She took his hand in hers, idly trailing her finger over his palm, when he spoke up, grabbing her attention immediately. There’s a flutter in her stomach as she smiles in response to his idea. “That sounds fun,” she pauses, hearing a quick clap of thunder outside, before her grin turned into more of a smirk, “better get to work, huh?”
The peck on her lips was quick, as short as the thunder that had been previously heard. She giggled, eyes moving to look towards the windows in anticipation for the next flash of lightning.
Either the storm was somehow getting worse, or some deity of lightning and thunder was looking out for them, because it grew a lot more intense right when they decided to play this little game. Most of the thunder rolling overhead was only a second or two, but there had been a couple that rolled and rumbled for close to ten seconds before it tapered off.
Those were her favorites so far, allowing their kisses to grow much deeper, and last longer. They always left her breathless, wanting more, and the storm delivered. It was still raining hard, the noise of drops hitting the window muffling out her heart racing in her ears.
Another resounding clap of thunder, and another kiss. She placed her hands on either side of him, leaning in further as she heard the vague noise of dishware rattling in the cupboards. Even with the thunder coming to an end, she chose not to part, and he wasn’t either, their kiss only deepening further and further. The storm was a far off concern in her mind, Serena totally forgetting that the power was even out in the first place. She felt fire through her veins, the weather only making her feel further electrified.
She needed him, like the earth needed rain.
