Hybrid/Shifter AU: Task Force 141 and Snow Leopard![Reader]
Yes, I also read the Hybrid/Shifter AUs involving everyone’s favorite task force.
So far, there were many types of animals for the [Reader] to be (dogs, cats, alligators, eagles, etc). Yet, I haven’t seen anyone else write about a Snow Leopard![Reader] (They’re one of my favorite animals).
And, here we are.
Since the first week when they were transferred to 141, the main four notice that Snow Leopard![Reader] is more active during the dawn and dusk hours.
Red Deer!Price, being an understandable captain, has rearranged shifts for [Reader] to work around those hours. Unless being assigned on missions, they need to follow orders on random hours.
Next, the team would also notice Snow Leopard![Reader] is quite elusive and has solitary tendencies. It’s related to being more active at dawn and dusk hours, but when trying to find them, they’re almost impossible to look for around the base. European Badger!Soap and European Pine Marten!Gaz had to search every corner of the building, and no luck finding the feline soldier.
About to give up the search until [Reader] comes out of their quarter. They were inside their room the whole damn time while the two were on a goose chase.
“Lad/Lass, you were in there the whole time?”
“Uh, yeah? I just finished training and catching up on reports for Price. Now, I need my goat jerky.”
They grab their snack from the communal kitchen and trotted back to their room like nothing happened.
When missions take place, Snow Leopard![Reader] acts like a different person. They’re highly precise and use their own style of taking down enemies.
[Reader] shifts into their beastly form, blending in the background to find the opportunity to strike (thanks to their camouflaging fur). Hidden in high places or in appropriate environments with shadows. Once they find the perfect timing, [Reader] ambushes so much enemy soldiers (slicing up with their claws and striking them with knives/guns).
When not on missions and finished up work/training, [Reader] tends to be resting about 18 hours. Sometimes they rest in their room, other times at random places. The kitchen area, the mess hall, Captain Price’s office, etc.
The most unexpected parts of having a Snow Leopard Hybrid as a teammate is their playfulness and tail-biting.
Soap would be pleasantly surprised by their playful trait and the two would play-fight, nip each other’s ears, and chasing their tails. They’re also careful to not scratch the badger hybrid/shifter since the claws are very sharp. They just keep them retracted into their hands/paws. Even E.P. Marten!Gaz would join in on the fun.
Speaking of tails: Snow Leopard![Reader] bites on their own tail. They have this habit since they were a cub and with an instinct of acting on it before joining the army. [Reader] tried to minimize the habit since it seems unprofessional for a soldier. Usually does it in their room or any private space around the base.
Except on one early morning, they were heading back to their quarters while biting on their tail as comfort, Gray Wolf!Ghost saw them when he turned a corner.
Both apex predators are at a stance, staring each other in awkward silence.
Until [Reader] breaks up the atmosphere, dropping their tail from their mouth. Stands straight up and salutes him.
“Morning, lieutenant.”
Trying to pretend what Ghost witnessed never happened.
“Really thought I’ll ignore what I saw?” What he would think.
Later in the afternoon, they ran into each other in the halls. Fortunately, nobody else is around to interrupt what [Reader] needs to address to the gray wolf hybrid/shifter.
“This morning, you weren’t supposed to see that. It’s a habit for snow leopard hybrids like me since cub-hood, usually to keep warm but sometimes for comfort. I don’t want you spilling that embarrassing moment to anyone else. Got it?”
“Sergeant, I don’t expose secrets like that.”
“So, we’re on mutual terms?”
“Yes.”
“Okay…I know our kinds have been feuding each other for a long time. I don’t want any misunderstandings between us as partners or teammates in general, on the field and around the base.”
“Then, let’s not make any.”
Despite wolves and snow leopards being natural enemies/rivals and in coexistence, the two soldiers work well together in the force.
Sometimes when it’s down time, both of them would hang out.
“Funny enough, actual snow leopards are nicknamed the “Ghosts of the Mountains”. Since we’re pretty good hunters from the mountains.”
“Sounds to me, you should’ve gotten my call sign.”
“You already took it. I’m fine with “Frosty” as mine.”
Imagine the two would hang out in either of their quarters/dens.

Also…the wolf-man himself sometimes play with their tail under the table during debriefs when the two sit next to each other. May or may not had chuffed from the interaction and tries to not blush from the touch.
Ghost finds their reaction cute.
