What’s your favorite thing about your muse?

Kat?  Her perseverance.  She doesn’t let anything truly get her down.  She’ll have nightmares about it, sure, but doesn’t let anything truly beat her (’cause are you truly beaten if your spirit is intact?).  Yeah... that.

What is their idea of a perfect date?

I know I answered this, but how about not WWII?  Um, my word... this is hard... because she doesn’t really expect much and she’s thankful whatever?  I guess when a relationship has been going for a while, it would be just a quiet evening watching a movie or listening/playing music with her boyfriend, maybe with a drink, maybe not.  Or a long walk somewhere nice, something like that.

Who in your OTP carries them from the couch/car to the bed?

They take turns.  It’s usually whoever’s on the same side of the car as they are, or whoever has less stuff to carry.  Angie stops doing it (because the kids are too big) before Elsie does.

And who soothes the kids after a nightmare? 

The kids tend to gravitate towards Elsie, probably because she gets a lot of nightmares herself and is also a superhero so she makes them feel very safe.  However, if Elsie’s not around or they run into Angie first, she’s an extremely acceptable second choice.

Who wants to throw out the car seat because the stupid thing won’t strap in? 

Angie.  Angie’s actually better at strapping the thing to the car and strapping the kid into it, but she still jokes about it; Elsie, on the other hand, is really big into safety so she doesn’t like to even joke about that sort of thing.

Who cries on the first day of school?

Elsie (but only on the first first day of school).  She’s also a nervous wreck the whole day until the kid comes home and tells her about what a great day they had.

Gets the kids into the local sports team?

They don’t push sports–in fact, they don’t even mention them until the kid comes home with a flyer to join the local team and expresses interest in joining up–but Angie’s the one who’s all for it while Elsie’s very much against it (”it’s too dangerous!  have you seen the injuries that athletes get?  our child is still developing!  they can’t afford a concussion or a broken limb, especially when it’s so easily avoidable–”).

And who’s the parent that gets way too aggressive at these games? 

Elsie, but because of all the potential injuries and rough play happening on the field (”Hey!  Watch out!  You’re going to hurt someone!  There is no way that can be legal!  Why isn’t the referee doing anything?  That’s it!  This is the last game!  There is no way I’m letting [kid] spend another minute on that field!”  Angie’s usually able to talk her down).  Angie is appropriately enthusiastic/angry (depending on which team is winning), but she doesn’t go overboard, and she respects the refs and the other team.

Who in your OTP lets the kids stay up and watch movies and who sends them to bed?

Angie’s more likely to let them stay up late, but only on when it’s not a school night.  Elsie’s a proponent of keeping the same sleep schedule regardless of how early you have to be up the next day, so she prefers that they not (although she will acquiesce about two or three times a year, usually during summer or another time when the kids have off from school longer than usual).

Who sneaks candy to the kids before school, whilst the other pretends not to notice?

Angie sneaks them candy and makes them promise not to eat it until lunch (she’s fully aware that the chances that they actually do are incredibly slim, but they actually do tend to wait), and Elsie pretends not to notice–although Angie often gets an earful for it once the kids are gone. 

Who is the parent that yells at the kid for being called to the principal’s office and who is the parent who yells at the principal?

100% depends on the situation.  They try not to come to any conclusions until they hear both their kid’s and the principal’s version of events.  When both the school and the kid are at fault (which happens more than once), Elsie’s more likely to yell at the principal and Angie’s more likely to yell at the kid (although, when they get home, Elsie has words with the kid, as well). 

Who teaches their son to tie a tie?

Angie, who decided at some point in middle school that tying a tie is a crucial skill to have; as a result, she knows how to tie a necktie at least three different ways and taught all the boys in her math and science classes in 11th grade how to tie a bow tie.  She also has a pretty well-known reputation of being able to tie your tie for you if ever need be, which she did a lot back in high school and continues to do now for her fellow police officers on the force.

And who explains periods to their daughter?

They start by giving her some books on the subject and plan to talk to her about it (with Angie doing most of the talking) after she’s had the chance to look at them.  Unfortunately, she starts asking Elsie all of her questions one day while Angie’s at work.  Elsie and Angie both firmly believe that periods are nothing to be ashamed of, and Elsie’s afraid of the message it’ll send if she deflects them all with “why don’t you ask Angie when she gets home,” so she answers them all as best as she can, her face beet-red and stumbling over her answers like someone trying to navigate an obstacle course in the dark.  In retrospect, she’s not sure that this was much better, but their daughter seems to be just fine (and she continues to ask questions, but once she figures out that she’ll get much calmer, quicker answers if she asks Angie, she tends to save those conversations for her).

Who cries at graduation?

Elsie.  She’s just so proud, and her baby’s grown up so fast–

Who reads the book in silly voices?

Angie, but Elsie picks up the habit (usually when Angie’s not around).

Who’s the one against sweets before dinner and who lets it slide?

Elsie is 100% against (if you’re that hungry, at least eat something healthy!!!), but Angie is more likely to let it slide.

Who gets rid of the monster in the closet and under the bed?

They both do?  It depends on who’s around/who the kids ask.  Angie tends to thoroughly search the offending hiding place for monsters and often offers threats into them–“You’d better not show your face in here or else” etc. etc.  Elsie takes monsters under the bed surprisingly seriously and often offers small demonstrations of her superpowers to warn them off.  She’s also 100% prepared to make a spray bottle of monster repellent if the kids ever decide that displays of her superpowers aren’t enough.

Which parent sneaks veggies into the kids’ dinner and who doesn’t like veggies themselves?

Neither on both accounts.  They both like vegetables, and they don’t do things like sneak vegetables into the kids’ dinner.  They just make what they make (whether the vegetables are the side dish or mixed into the main course depends on the meal), and the kids are expected to try everything at least once.

Who in your OTP does the “hurt my baby and I’ll kill you” speech when their kid brings someone over?

Elsie, but it’s not so much a speech as “being really quiet and intimidating and glaring daggers at the person until they leave.”  She claims it’s just part of her general intense mistrust of new people, but she 100% plays it up to use it as an intimidation tactic.

Who goes on all the rides with the kids because their partner gets queasy on rides?

Angie goes on the rides; Elsie gets queasy.
