I really love seeing people fawn over ocs. Whether they’re fan characters or original characters, your own or somebody else’s, talking about them and doodling them and writing about them and validating them as important and cute and interesting is just... aaaa it’s so nice.

Okay, first off, thank you for making this blog! There are so few blogs about fan character design in the Sonic fandom and I'm happy to finally find one that isn't inactive :D Secondly, say I had some fcs who were siblings. Would it be okay for the elder (if they were old enough) to raise/help raise the younger if their parents were absent? I believe that Sonic kinda did this with Tails, but I could be mistaken. Their story wouldn't really focus on it as it's more of a past element. Thank you!

Happens in real life plenty of times, no reason you can’t use it in fiction as well!

I got really lazy the last few panels so I just copypasta’d haha sorry

Omgsuper sorry to clog your inbox, but how do you go about making your comics? I realize this is a broad question but do you write out the script like 'upshot, hiro look left' or something along those lines?or just dive in?no hurry to answer, thx! :3

No problem, this is actually a really interesting question that I’ve never answered before!

For me, it really depends on the type of comic, the length, my purpose in drawing it, and how clear the sequence is in my head. Most of my BH6 comics are just really short strips, just a few panels, and there’s a clear image or punchline or progression that I want. I can picture those in my head pretty clearly, so I just sketch them out. I also try to save as much time as possible by copy-paste and slightly edit frames where the whole thing doesn’t have to change.

For the comic I’m working on now, it’s a bit too long to do that, and is a bit more complicated because there are multiple points I need to include, and it jumps perspective several times, and different characters have access to different amounts of information. For this, I’ve drawn proper “names,” or rough version of the comics that are just super ugly quickly scrawled sketches with barely legible text in frames. I don’t bother to draw these cleanly, because I move them around A LOT before I actually draw them ^ ^
