2/14/24: Don't Text Him by Serrini
For a genre that I'd never heard of before last week it's strange that I've got it twice: it's more Cantopop, interestingly. Also I will be honest I was partially asleep for parts of the album because I'm sleepy today and listening to music (ANY music) while I'm sleepy makes it physically difficult for me to keep my eyes open. That really is not this album's fault, just to be clear.
It's pretty good. It's much more experimental than last week's Cantopop, with a good mix of more conventional analog instruments and some more synthy, weird songs like tracks 4, 6 and 7, and 15. Overall I'd say it's not the most energetic album, there's no big hitters on the excitement scale though most of them aren't really 'chill' in that way, either. It's pretty middle-of-the-road that way. I'm really not sure if the album needed to be this long but I can tell they really put some passion into this one, which I can't say for some of the other records I've reviewed so far.
The English is fine, though there are some weird moments that I can't tell if they were intentional or not. The mix can also be a bit counterproductive at times with the vocals being quiet compared to the rest of the song.
My favorite song was probably 'Drink'n Dance' with its darker atmosphere compared to the rest of the album.
That's all! See you tomorrow for! Something!
