Dear Gus,

Derek and I have a lot of irons in the fire. One of them is a small press we’re planning to launch, so we can publish books independently. Tonight we had pizza & beer with Bryan and Seth from Sibling Rivalry Press so they could give us their tips on how to make our press successful. They were incredibly generous with their knowledge and we left totally inspired.

Dear Gus,

Elle Nash was supposed to read at ARS tonight, but she cancelled Thursday afternoon when the weather report forecasted snow. Rather than cancelling the event itself, I turned it into an ARS Writers Carousel and invited some former readers to read short pieces. It turned out to be a hit and we heard some great readings from Bryan Borland, Seth Pennington, Joey Trimble, Kat Stromquist, Rhett Brinkley, Lily Kauffman, and Ben McVay. Everyone’s willingness to step in on short notice was a nice reminder of how important it is to have a good community. We have one. 

Since Elle’s hotel room was nonrefundable, Nene spent the night with you so Mom and I could go out with everyone and then spend the night in the hotel room.

What’s the big deal about The Queer South?

This morning I learned that THE QUEER SOUTH anthology made the American Library Association’s top ten LGBT Over the Rainbow titles. I have two poems in that anthology, edited by Douglas Ray.
