Toi, rien que toi, seulement toi, sinon, rien…
V. H. SCORP
Robyn: I was surprised that you were so eager to pick my call, Princesse.
Princess Isabella: Isn’t this place a bit too public
Robyn: Don’t worry. There’s no one around or nearby for that matter. My people have made sure of that.
Princess Isabella: Okay then.
Robyn: Now, I’m sure all of this has come as a shock to you but I don’t intend to sit back and do nothing. That’s why I am here. My name is Robyn, as you know, and I come to you representing a large organisation that has the wellbeing of the monarchy, the nation and the people at heart. We call ourselves The Institution.
Princess Isabella: What does this Institution want with Maria?
Robyn: We do not believe that Princess Maria is a good fit to be the future Monarch of Saliceau.
Princess Isabella: How dare you! My sister has worked hard her whole life to be Queen.
Robyn: But she is too naive and impressionable. We had high hopes for her when she was under Her Majesty’s thumb because La Reine (the Queen) only works in the interest of the monarchy and the country. But when Queen Francesca forced Princess Maria to marry the Duke of Hiver, that basically pushed her into the Baron of Heter’s arms. Now, she has changed and if left unchecked, she will become a liability to the monarchy.
Princess Isabella: Then what does the Institution want with me?
Robyn: We believe that you are most capable to be la Reine de Saliceau but we know that you don’t want to be Queen. However, we are also aware that you would do anything for Princess Maria because your sister is the most important person to you. So we’ve come up with a proposition that benefits everyone.
Princess Isabella: Which is?
Robyn: We want you to work with us.
Princess Isabella: What?
Robyn: Princess Maria will be a terrible Queen if left unchecked. But if you’re there to support her, pulling the strings from behind, then under your watchful eye both she and the nation will thrive.
Princess Isabella: I’m not convinced.
Robyn: And why is that?
Princess Isabella: All you’ve proven to me is that you know a bunch of secrets. That’s not enough to make me trust you.
Robyn: You’re right. But like I said before, I don’t need you to trust me. If I was a threat to the royal family, I could’ve simply created a scandal threatening enough to get you and your family kicked out.
Princess Isabella: That doesn’t mean you don’t have other motives.
Robyn: But for now at least, you can assume that my motives are not hostile.
Princess Isabella: ...How do I know you’re not using me to dig up dirt on my family and use it as blackmail?
Robyn: Because I already know more about your family than even you do. Any more doubts?
Robyn: Like I’ve said twice now, you don’t need to trust me. At least, not right away. But with time you’ll begin to see that we only want what’s best for the nation. I will not make you do anything you decide you don’t want to, and I cannot force you to tell me anything you choose not to. I’m only asking you to work with us for now. I’m not asking you to join us... yet. But I need an answer. Now.
(Bella recalls Maria’s lies)
Princess Isabella: Alright. I’ll work with you.
Robyn: Excellent.
