From the Rooftops I proclaim... I AM YOURS!
First things first, here is the link to this amazing song: Rooftops - Jesus Culture (click me!) - Go listen to it...now!
In this post I intend to describe, in a few words, the reason why I'm absolutely in love with this song and why can relate to it so much.
A month (or so) ago, when I was told about the youth fellowship, my initial reaction was, 'Naaah boring. Waste of time.'
I didn't think twice about it. I wasn't going.
Then, a few days later I meet this same person who had told me about this YF, and once again he encouraged me to go.
I knew that deep down I wanted to feel the presence of God once again in my life, however I didn't know how. Yes, I attend the Sunday mass and yes, I pray but something was missing. I could see how peaceful this person was when he talked about this whole YF experience, therefore I decided to give it a try and see how it works out.
It was Tuesday the 28th October when I attended for the first time. I was surprised at the amount of youths that were there. I barely knew anyone but everyone was so friendly and nice. The talk was very intriguing and the songs were catchy.
But, there was this song - Rooftops. At that moment, I could've sworn the lyrics were written for me. Listening to the band playing the song gave me the chills. I could relate to it so much - it was almost as if I was put on the spotlight and the song was being dedicated to me.
It was God's grace that had brought me there on that particular day. Week after week I searched for His Truth, His love, His kindness, His forgiveness. As I said in my last blog post, the Seven weekend was my pivotal point. I felt God's presence in my heart. I still can't put into words how life-changing that moment was. Because of that I'm no longer afraid to 'shout out His name' and to 'share His love across the earth' because I experienced His Love and I want everyone to feel that Love - The One True love!
'What you have said in the dark will be heard in the daylight, and what you have whispered in the ear in the inner rooms will be proclaimed from the roofs.' Luke 12:3
Seven weekend - Life changing experience
At first I was sceptical. I didn't know what to expect and I barely knew anyone. It was only a week away from the Seven weekend and I still hadn't decided what to do.
I spoke to a few people who had been to this weekend before and every one of them encouraged me to go.... So I did!
It was one of the best decision I've ever made which I will never regret.
For the first time in years, I felt the presence of God. And I can tell you, it feels good. It feels amazing actually. I laughed, cried and met some pretty amazing people.
I was thirsty for the love of God. I let all my emotions out and let myself fall into His arms. It felt as if I was reborn again. I felt as if finally, I had found what I was looking for.
Breaking free from your own prison feels good and I had the first taste of it last Saturday. I never plan to go back. I've turned over a new leaf, I won't be hiding in the corner anymore, I will talk like everyone's listening, I will make the best out of my life with the ones I care about the most.
The two group leaders were the sweetest and most understanding ladies. I am forever grateful for their kindness and encouraging words. They inspired me to be a better person and to never give up.
If I had to do this all over again, I would totally do it. What a life changing experience! Thanks to everyone who made this weekend possible! Thank you so much!
Prison break
Din is-sena ghall-ewwel darba bdejt nattendi il-kors 'Seven'.
Kors, fejn ammont sabih ta' zghazagh jattendu sabiex ifittxu twegiba ghal-mistoqsijiet taghhom relatati kemm mar-religjoni kif ukoll mal-hajja ta' kuljum.
Storja partikolari baqghet f'mohhi, u fuqha jien se nirrifletti;
Mela kien hemm tifel Lhudi - bla kwiet ta' xejn. Ix-xoghol tad-dar li kienu jaghtuh l-ghalliema kien ihallih ghall-ahhar u iktar kien hsiebu fil-kompjuter milli fl-iskola. Ommu u missieru ma kinux jafu x'ha jaqbdu jaghmlu biex iqanqlulu daqsxejn ta' nteress fl-iskola. Darba minnhom, waqt li din l-omm kienet qed tkellem mal- gara taghha, qajjmet dan is-suggett u l-gara taghha kienet pronta qaltilha biex tibghat lit-tifel fi skola tal-Knisja. L-omm, li ma kienx fadlilha iktar ghazla, bghatet lit-tifel fi skola tal-Knisja. L-ewwel gurnata l-iskola, giet u ghaddiet, u t-tifel flok mar jilghab bil-kompjuter, dlonk tela f'kamartu u beda l-homework. Ommu u missieru staghgbu mhux ftit b'din l-imgieba tat-tifel. Telghu hdejh u mimlijin kurzita saqsewh kif qabad u baqa sejjer dritt fuq xogholu. T-tifel kemmxejn nervuz irrisponda, 'X'ma naghmilx il-homework! Tafu li f'kull klassi hemm Lhudi msallab fuq salib?!'
Din l-istorja baqghet f'mohhi ghal bosta ragunijiet u fiha bosta punti fejn wiehed jista jieqaf jirrifletti. Dan l-Lhudi msallab, m'huwa hadd hlief Kristu nniffsu. It-tifel ckejken kien mbezzgha meta ra lil Kristu fuq is-salib u din il-biza halliet mpatt fuqu. Filwaqt li hass sens ta' biza go fih, din il-biza halliet impatt pozittiv fuqu.
Ahna naraw lil Kristu, bhala dak li gie fostna u garr fuq spallejh d-dnubiet taghna. Huwa li ssallab ghalina l-midinbin. Huwa li ha dnubietna, bata ghalina u sahansitra miet ghalina. Miet, habba fina - habba dnubietna. Huwa li miet u rxoxta sabiex isalvana - biex iharrabbna mill-hazen tax-xitan.
Bhalma l-biza li hass t-tifel halliet impatt pozittiva fuqu, hekk ukoll is-salib ghand jhalli mpatt pozittiv fuqna. Ghandna nibzghu minn Alla - nibzghu mid-dnub u l-hazen kollu li toffri din id-dinja materjali u bl-istess mhabba li Kristu miet ghalina, nhobbu lil dawk ta' madwarna. Ghandna naghtu lis-salib r-rispett li tant jisthoqqlu, nxandru u nghixu l-Kelma Mqaddsa t'Alla matul l-hajja taghna ta' kuljum biex permezz tal-Kelma Tieghu, nhallu mpatt pozittiv fuq l-hajja ta' kull min jiftah widnejh Ghaliha.

My friend told me about this restaurant which serves affordable six/seven course meals of good quality. (Six course lunch @ $25.80 and seven course dinner @ $35.80--> That's why its more worth it to go for lunch, I mean would you pay $10 more for ONE course? It's still reasonably priced though, compared to many other restaurants, but when you compare lunch and dinner prices...)
Being a typical Singaporean, I was excited. I mean cheap and good? I'm in!
So, I made sure I checked this place out, and I'm pleased to say Tao's did not dissapoint.
Course 1: Bacon and Mushroom Gratin
This was cheesy, melty, and everything a gratin should be. It was delicious slathered on the fluffy bread that came with it. Feel free to ask for more bread! (But don't eat SO much that you don't have space for the next few courses)
Course 2: Mushroom Soup
This was a hit with my whole family! It was creamy, and generously filled with fresh mushroom.
Course 3: Fruit Salad
This was interesting. It was chopped fruits topped with crab meat, topped with some mango glaze. It was unique, but it didn't really suit my tastes. In fact, most of the starters were too unique for our liking. Maybe we just can't appreciate such atas food.
We also tried:
Cold noodles (forgot the name)
Farmboy Splendour (basically a fancy name for Chicken Salad)
Prawn Roll with pork floss topped with mango glaze
All of which were forgettable, with the exception of the Prawn roll which was not bad.
Course 4: Drinks (yup, drinks are counted as a course here)
Rose Apple tea
Grassjelly Mint Tea
Summer peach tea
All the drinks came with a small spoon or fork for you to eat up the apple/grass jelly/peach. I really liked all the drinks, and my favorite would be the rose apple tea.
Course 5: Main course!
BBQ Pork ribs
The baby back ribs were delicious! I definitely recommend this. The meat was so tender it slid of the bones easily, and the marinade was delicious.
Baked Atlantic Flounder with Cheese
Generously topped with melted cheese, this dish is ideal for cheese lovers or fussy kids.
Sea Bass
This photo absolutely does not do this justice. The seabass was perfectly cooked with melt-in-the-mouth fish and tasty sauce served alongside. Another must order.
Course 6:
Brownie with Ice cream
The usual brownie with ice cream. Not particularly bad or good.
Mochi
Again, nothing spectacular, I think you should order the other desserts cause the mochi was kinda tiny. It was pretty sad to look at.
Overall, Tao's gives you cheap and good quality food in a nice dining atmosphere, I think you ought to give it a try! For such reasonable prices, I cannot have many complaints about the food. Especially with such high standards (clearly executed in their main courses), I must say that I'm impressed and extremely satisfied with their food.
