“Jess?” Chris breathed, his eyes narrowed a little, trying to get a better look at the blonde across the aisle. It definitely looked like her, but he couldn’t be sure. Sometimes, even with contacts, he still had trouble seeing things from a certain distance. You ought to get that surgery... you have the money for it. But he shook his head, silently praying that this girl was Jessica - otherwise he might look like a complete idiot in the supermarket.
If it was... would she even want to see him? Had they been on good terms when Chris moved away? Was she married to Mike... or anyone in general? All these things swirling around in his head, and not limited to him thinking how he was wrong about her not getting more attractive than she was before. Natural benefits, like she always used to say.

“Come on, Jess. It was just a dumb, little kiss. She was just getting the wrong idea.”
@sevenlimbs.
“Well, well. Get a load of Miss Homecoming Queen. Y’know, that whole look really suited you.”

It’s been a long, LONG day, and Sam was more than ready to just spend a few hours forgetting it had even happened. She was just so tired. And mad. Mainly mad. It was so stupid, to think that Josh had a tactful bone in his body - but there she was hiding in one of the more private rooms of her large house, trying to forget he’d even spoken. She wanted to be alone. She wanted to punch something, in all honesty.
The small, soft sound of the door had her head snapping up, mouth open and ready to hurl abuse at the boy for even trying to come after her - but the words died on her tongue at the head of blonde hair tied in pigtail braids. It was only Jess - and even the sight of her had the anger sizzling down just a little. Wordlessly, Sam shifted on the bed she’d all but thrown herself onto earlier, let the other blonde join her. Silence reigned for a few minutes, and the longer time went by, the calmer she felt, despite the rage bubbling under her skin. Jess had that sort of effect, when she wasn’t obsessing over boys or being well, too girly.
A soft sigh, and then Sam had her head pressed against the jut of her friend’s shoulder, eyes half-lidded and mouth drawn tight into a small frown. She hated being so angry, but if there was something all of them knew would calm her down - it was a small round of comforting touches. And so she buried her way into Jess’ arms, curled up against the other girl’s side and simply sat there, half across her lap. Maybe it was because she was so much shorter than all of them, but it was always so nice simply being held by her friends - and while she’d never let the others know, Jess cuddles were almost always the best.
ralice for the halloween thing & ur ask is BROKEN
oops its bc im a SKELLESEEr now
Choses the pumpkin: Alice because she would literally yell at Raine for picking out the tiniest lil pumpkin in the lot to do a joke Charlie Brown Christmas thing.
Carves the pumpkin: Raine bc lbr Alice aint doing that shit.
Gets scared and clings the other in a haunted house: Raine most definitely. Alice would literally just be like, “You lived through two fucking serial killer towns and you can’t handle this shit.”
Matching costume idea: Raine would try to do like Peach and Mario but he’s Peach. Alice would be moments away from killing him and then they would just dress separately.
Makes a cozy bed-fort to cuddle in: They would build it together but then Raine wouldn’t take it down for like 6 months because he would hack in there and pretend like the police wouldn’t be able to get in if they wanted to.
Steal’s the other’s candy: Alice would steal Raine’s candy but secretly Raine would know she’s taking it.
Accidentally gets lost in a corn maze: Raine, but also Alice too but she wouldn’t admit it.
Tells spooky stories to scare the other: Neither. They would just retell Dover stories sadly.
Collects cool-looking leaves: Alice because let’s be real Raine doesn’t leave the house.

4 - Forehead kiss
It’s been a long day, and an even longer night - one of the Washington’s annual parties that seem to get bigger and better and louder every time. They’ve been drinking, the boys probably drinking far too much when half of them are still under age, but there’s no parents, no authorities telling them what they can and can’t do. So they’re wild with it.
She’s drowsy, half asleep in the corner of the room, draped over one of the many sofas littered around the house - her legs tucked over the cushion, her face pressed into the arm of it, and she watched her friends making fools of themselves. Shout with liquid courage. She wants to join in, but the last drink has gotten to her a little too much, and the yelling has started to wear her down - who knew her friends could be so loud?
Chris and Josh are trying to out drink each other, far across the other side of the room, egged on by Mike and Emily, who’s wrapped around him like some kind of parasite. A cute couply parasite - she did support her friend’s choices after all, but a parasite nonetheless. Ashley’s too busy admiring Chris from afar to really come and join her, caught up as well in a mild conversation with Matt and the twins. Where was Jess...
A weight at her side and ah, there she was. Sam shifts, lifts an arm as she half-falls onto the other blonde, arm slung over her shoulders to drag Jess close with a wide smile and giggle of a laugh. She never got to speak with Jess, or even just spend time with her, when the others were around - and they weren’t close enough to just call each other up to hang out. and that made Sam a little sad. So she puts as much affection into the one armed hug she’s dragged her friend into, makes comments on the night, asks about her life - anything and everything that can possibly tumble from her drunken lips.
And Jess just sits there, laughing and smiling, like Sam wasn’t being stupid with her words - which she definitely was, she could feel the stumbles and stutters on her heavy tongue. But Jess is a trooper, and knows how to deal with a drunk Emily (which is saying something).
So Sam just leans over when she’s finished her last point, plants a firm, but dry, kiss to the corner of Jess’ temple, closes her eyes and just presses there for a few moments. Drinks in the warmth and presence of her friend.
Then she’s letting go and Jess is stumbling off with a giggle to find one of the girls that have wandered off.
