About nine years ago I was on my way home from work on my bike. I saw a huge storm behind me coming, the clouds were outrageous. I'm fine getting rained on going home in the middle of summer, it can be refreshing.
Unfortunately, this was a hailstorm, about golfball sized, so when it hit I was far enough away from work and trapped in an area with no cover. I was pelted all over, bruises forming on my legs, arm and torso. I saw a man in the distance standing in an auto garage and I rushed over to finally get cover.
That was the worse hail I have ever experienced, so I wanted to ask:
Have you ever been caught outside in a severe hail storm?
No

I am Once Again thinking about disaster preparedness
and, like, what are we doing?? D’y’all know how many tornadoes we’ve had in my area in the last month?? Way more than usual! A lot more flooding in the past 8 or so years also. What are we doing.
also shoutout to FEMA (US Federal Emergency Management Agency) for finally including considerations for disabled people on their easy-to-find infographics on disaster preparedness, I’ve been reading these articles since I was like 7 years old and it’s nice to see more than the assumption that everyone in a household is young and able-bodied. It just takes a few extra lines to say, or one more infographic to make

Southern tornado season is back
This is the current forecast for Monday. A hatched area means there’s a possibility of seeing tornadoes (EF2+). Stay safe out there!!
In case the weather hasn’t been crazy enough, we had a tornado today 🙃 not my pic, but about ten minutes from my house. We lucked out with no damage.
Fuck. The tri state tornado record (set way back in 1925) might get broken tonight. Holy shit. And this tornado has already touched FOUR states.
I don't think most people will realize how significant this is. As of right now, this tornado has been on the ground continuously for 150 miles. That's FUCKING INCREDIBLE, especially for a NIGHT tornado (as storms draw their power from heat).
I'd also like to remind everyone that this isn't your typical spring tornado outbreak. It's DECEMBER. And while it's not completely unheard of to have tornadoes in December, it IS unusual to have the amount of powerful tornadoes we've had in the past seven years.
THIS. IS. CLIMATE. CHANGE.
If you are in the path of the storms tonight, have your weather radios on, or your phones on loud. Please be safe and stay weather aware tonight.
Dozens of people had to be rescued from their homes in North Carolina as thunderstorms dumped heavy rain across the South.
