Is there any part of the canon narrative you really like to build off of or interrogate with your AU?

In GoF, Fake-Moody said that Arthur would know all about the Imperius Curse and we know that Voldemort's followers infiltrated the ministry using the Imperius Curse. So...I think Arthur was an Auror and found himself put under the Imperius Curse. I also think this is why Arthur has a good relationship with Real-Moody.

Are there themes or motifs or specific concepts in your AU that you hope people will notice? (Do you want to give hints about your masterful foreshadowing or chat about your extensive world building? Should we all grab a floriography dictionary when flowers are mentioned?)

Not consciously!

Would your AU!Snape want to trade places with canon!Snape (and vice versa!)? Why?

I think so. In my AU he gets a family, people who love him and a good job.

Do you think any other characters are going to escape the gravitational pull of their canon narrative/fate in your AU? If so, can any of that extra AU!velocity be attributed to Severus’ actions?

In my AU there won't be anyone to hear the prophecy so the Potter's are safe. Or as safe as people involved in the Order of the Phoenix can be!

Does Severus have any major interests (mycology, astronomy, sci-fi, baking elaborate puff pastries, art forgery, etc.) in your AU that we never got to see canon!Snape indulge in? Do these interests play a major narrative role?

No, but I do kinda want him to start making elaborate puff pastries.

Arthur and the Imperius Curse

Been thinking a lot about Arthur Weasley recently for some stuff I’m putting together for my Severus Weasley series...

- Arthur Weasley was an Auror. 

- His speciality was dark objects and he worked closely with Alastor Moody on raids.

- He was put under the Imperius Curse by Barty Crouch Jr.

- He was eventually arrested by the Aurors and charged with being a conspirator and a traitor. 

- Moody was the only one who believed his innocence and put his career on the line to prove that Arthur Weasley was not a conspirator or traitor. 

- After almost a year in Azkaban, Arthur was cleared on all charges. The records were cleared by the Ministry because they never wanted anyone to know just how many of their people were ‘compromised’. 

- Moody made sure that Arthur remained employed, albeit not as an Auror anymore but still as part of the department in the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office.

- forever grateful, Arthur is Moody’s biggest supporters.

Severus Weasley Universe, now with Plot

Severus was near the end of a draining 24hr shift. He was just heading down to the staff room to grab a cup of coffee when he was hit by a binding curse and had a black hood pulled over his head.

He felt the world slip away and knew he'd been Disapperated. He'd heard rumours about Healers being kidnapped by Death Eaters but they'd never taken someone from St Mungo's.

The hood was suddenly removed and Severus prepared himself for the worst.

"We need your help, Snape." Severus stared as James Potter stepped out of the shadows.

"So you hit me with a binding curse and kidnap me?"

"Told you he wouldn't help." Severus recognised the voice of Sirius Black.

"That wasn't my idea." James ignored Sirius. "Sorry." He raised his wand and the curse lifted.

Standing Severus stretched his limbs. "Why do you need my help?"

Sirius and James exchanged a look. Before either could reply, the door behind them opened.

"Severus." Albus Dumbledore stood in the doorway. He looked grave. "Come with me."

Curious, Severus followed his former headmaster into a dimly lit sitting room. There were several other people in the room gathered around a pale man lying on the sofa. It took Severus a moment.

"Uncle Gideon!" He rushed towards him.

"He's been hit with a particularly nasty curse." Dumbledore explained.

"Why didn't you take him straight to St Mungo's?" Severus took his uncles hand and felt for his pulse.

"Questions we can't answer would be asked. Can you help him?"

He looked down at his uncle and knew he had to try. "Get me as many books on curses you can. Potter, you weren't shit at potions..."

Severus worked furiously for hours, scribbling and crossing out notes, calculations and searching through every book Sirius managed to find him.

Eventually, he had a counter curse and potion. Exhausted he sat back on a stool.

"Will this work?" James asked.

"I hope so." He rubbed the bridge of his nose and fixed Dumbledore with a pointed stare. "Are you going to tell me what all this is about?"

"We should tell him." Jame said.

Dumbledore sighed. "Voldemort. I have reason to believe he his followers have infiltrated the Ministry."

"So you're...the resistance?"

"Yes."

Severus practically rolled his eyes. "You're going to get people killed because of a rumour?"

"It's not a rumour." Everyone turned to see Gideon trying to sit up. "Severus, you know it isn't a rumour."

Something stirred in Severus's memory, something he'd tried to forget.

Dumbledore regarded Severus curiously. "Severus---"

"He needs to rest. Make sure he takes his potion."

"Severus---"

"Next time you need a Healer, ask." With that he Disapperated.

Severus Weasley AU where him and Lily don't reconcile.....Helloween 1981 .....Sev hears what happened to the Potters

- Severus and Lily tried to reconcile but things were just differen and they drifted apart.

- Severus kept his head down for the rest of his time at Hogwarts, he made a few friends and was generally left alone.

- he wrote regularly to Molly, confiding a lot in her. Arthur regularly sent him owls as well and having this connection helped him greatly. He loved it when Bill sent him riddles and Charlie drew him endless pictures of dragons.

- Lily and James getting together hurt him. Molly had a few choice words to say about Lily and told him he'd find the perfect partner soon enough.

- after Hogwarts, Severus became an apprentice Healer and lost track of Lily & James.

- he occasionally saw Lily in Diagon Alley but they didn't interact. He read the marriage announcement in the paper and found that he didn't feel anything about it. He sent Lily an owl congratulating her but that was it.

- the war kept Severus very busy at St Mungo's, he was into his third busy night shift when he started hearing rumours about an attack on the Potter's.

- he tried to put it out of his mind but he felt a little sick. Eventually he fire-called Arthur who broke the news to him that Lily and James had been killed.

- Severus's emotions were a mess and one of the more kindly senior Healers told him to go home.

- Molly hugged her son tightly.

- in the morning the news about Voldemort's disappearence broke and celebrations began to happen.

Early morning Weasley pondering

Regular readers might be aware that I have an AU where the Weasley's adopt Severus and I've been thinking about the Weasley's a lot recently.

The Weasley's are extremely good at adapting to what they've got (ever expanding house for example), and in order to manage everything, Molly must be an absolute whizz at getting as much out of the household budget as possible. I imagine she's amazing with coupons.

This led me to another thought, what if Molly had a part time work from home type job? Like she did the wizarding equivalent of call centre type work...or even doing the books for people.

I also wondered if Floo Powder was an expense item for Arthur or if because he was a ministry worker, Floo Powder was discounted for him.

I also want to know more about the ghoul in the attic.

Severus Weasley, with added plot 1

(to recap: the Weasley's adopted Severus at the end of his fifth year. Please see the Severus Weasley tag for more :))

- after leaving Hogwarts, Severus was accepted as an apprentice Healer. As a first year apprentice he spent a lot of times on nights so getting home in the early hours of the morning wasn't unusual for him.

- what was unusual was finding Arthur standing in the middle of the living room. "Dad?" Arthur didn't respond. Cautiously, Severus stepped forward and raised his voice slighty: "Dad!"

- Arthur jumped and almost seemed to step out of a trance. "Oh! You're up early...or is it late?" Arthur frowned to himself.

- "Early. Is everything OK?"

- "Hm...? Oh. Fine. Fine. Just...just a lot going on at work."

- Severus regarded his dad. Arthur had been coming and going at all hours lately, his job dealing with cursed objects was in increasing demand as the Aurors conducted more and more raids on suspected Death Eaters.

- Arthur looked tired and had recently lost weight. He had been a little short tempered with Molly as well.

- Molly was pregnant with twins and she put Arthur's strange behaviour down to the stresses he was under at work as well as having two more children.

- Severus wasn't so sure and was starting to feel that something else was going on.

- "Are you sure--"

- "I'm fine!" Arthur interrupted. "I'm sorry, Sev...it's...just work."

- Severus held up his hand. "It's okay. I'm going to bed, night dad."

- as Severus climbed the stairs he glanced back at Arthur who was now scribbling something in a notebook

Severus Weasley, part 9

(previously)

- the news that Molly was pregnant was cause for great celebration...but Severus worried that this would change things.

- he was quiet and moody until Lily got sick of him and asked him to tell her what was going on. Severus explained the best he could and she told him to stop being silly...then wrote to the Weasley’s.

- Severus was Very Annoyed that Lily had done this, but Arthur met him at the next Hogsmeade weekend and reassured him that this changed nothing, Severus was still (officially now) his son. He was just getting another brother or sister.

- somewhat reassured but very nervous about having another sibling, Severus tried to get on with his final year.

- one afternoon, Professor McGonagall came to collect him from History of Magic. He had a bit of a panic attack on the way to Dumbledore’s office as the last time someone had collected him from a lesson it was to tell him about his mother...Professor McGonagall felt awful and after calming him down assured him that this was nothing unpleasant. 

- nervously, Severus stepped out of the fireplace at The Burrow and was met by a beaming Arthur. 

- Arthur took him upstairs and introduced him to his new baby brother, Percy. Grinning, Molly patted the bed next to her and said it was their tradition that the newest Weasley was first held by the most recent Weasley...and that was him. 

- Severus went wide-eyed and stammered that Charlie should be the one to hold him. Charlie said it was okay, but Severus asked if maybe they could all hold him?

- he sent a copy of the photograph to Lily who squeed and showed it to all the girls in her dormitory.

- Percy soon became Severus’s little shadow and Severus was happy to pay attention to him. 

- no one was that surprised when Percy became the first (well....technically second) Weasley to be sorted into Slytherin.

Prompt for the Severus Weasley AU : Lily visiting Sev over the Holidays

- nervously, Severus and Lily approached Molly who was standing on the platform beaming at them.

- "Mum," it still felt a bit weird to call Molly 'mum' but it also felt so right. "Can Lily come visit over the summer?"

- Molly couldn't miss the way the two were holding hands. "I don't know, Sev. We'll have to see what Lily's parents say."

- "They're waiting outside." Lily said, giving Sev's a hand a squeeze. "I'm sure they'll say yes."

- "Well, no time like the present." Molly marched through the barrier, followed by Severus's trunk and then Severus & Lily.

- Severus stood nervously out of the way while Molly chatted to the Evans's, after a few moments she walked over.

- "Lily can visit for the last week of the holidays. I'll send Arthur to pick you up, dear."

- grinning, Lily hugged Severus and said she'd see him shortly.

- once she was gone, Molly turned to him. "Separate rooms, young man."

- Severus blushed.

- the weeks until Lily's visit crawled by and Severus half believed it wasn't going to happen.

- the day did finally arrive and Lily Disapparated with Arthur one Saturday morning. She rushed over to greet Severus and the two got a little caught up in the moment as Bill pretended to vomit and Arthur loudly cleared his throat.

- Sev introduced Lily to his brothers, Charlie needed a little persuasion to leave his room but he very quickly took to Lily. Percy gurgled at her and she declared he was adorable

- Severus took her upstairs to show her his room (followed by a shout from Molly that they were to leave the door open).

- Lily spent the week playing with Charlie & Bill, hanging out with Severus (and taking many opportunities to sneak off together) and teasing the ghoul in the attic.

- there was also way too much good food courtesy of Molly's amazing cooking.
