The ping of his phone caught Beyan’s attention, sure it was a summons from the Boss, but instead it was an email from a [email protected]. Joe? 420? lowfat? Beyan doesn’t remember any weed-dealers around here named Joe. Lowfat? Is he skimming? Is it a scam? Then he read the headline, ‘Private Room Grand Opening’ and it clicked. He’s pretty sure it was old geezer Joe who ran that restaurant on the bay. He distinctly remembers scrambling through the store-room window running taking a shortcut away from some thugs that were after him and promptly landing at Joe’s feet. After taking in his appearance and hearing the commotion outside, Joe had just told him to ‘scram’ with an unimpressed wave of the hand. Beyan had gone and seen him a couple of times since but it has been a while. It wouldn’t be so bad seeing the geezer again, Beyan thought. It would be even better if the booze was free too.
