To follow up... it's almost the end of 2025 and I have achieved 99% of my dream of a fully functional studio. ;-; I keep paper and patterns and fabrics in a closet.

I wouldn't trade this setup for anything, and it's hard to show in pictures how efficient and functional the space is. I don't feel cluttered or crunched up when I'm here.

There's still a list of improvements and more tools I want, like getting my own first computer and potentially replacing the workbench with a longer one, but to me this is home. It's mine!

My lolita wardrobe is actually on the other side! A full room tour would probably be pretty rad.

In 2024, I made the difficult decision to leave my teaching career. I was feeling burnt out, underappreciated, and underpaid. I did not have much of a plan when I left, and as a type A individual who always has a plan, this scared the shit out of me.

After stressing for several weeks, I made the decision to take a risk and pursue my art full time. I am still in the early stages of opening a business, which has been stressful and scary at times, but has also been incredibly rewarding. This year I launched a slow fashion line and made over 65 quilted bags (here's me with most of them!). I'm at a place where I love my work and now I'm just waiting for the others who will love it too. 💛

#FallforCostume Day 16: Tools and Techniques

Choosing to share my tool pegboard and sewing machine for today! I just got the pegboard last year and it has changed my life. No more digging through drawers looking for that one specific tool 😭

I love my old Viking Husqvarna sewing machine so much. It's my favorite and preferred machine to use even though I own a couple newer ones now. It was my late grandmother's machine from the 60s; she was a seamstress and I inherited most of her sewing equipment as a kid. It is unfortunate that I was too young and did not get the chance to get to know her well, but I feel happy and honored that I've been able to learn how to sew on her machine and still use it to this day.

This machine is amazing, it's solid metal, built like a tank, and will sew through anything. It got through all the leather sewing on my GoT costumes and only started to complain at 4+ layers of leather 😅
