Finished all the fibre tool organisers. All the pouches are double sided and specially designed to hold specific sets of tools - the watermelon pouch stores my pop lock & carding cloth cleaning brushes, the leaves pouch has 4 pockets to house the blending board/board kick stand/packing brush/dowels/poker, the bluey bag contains disassembled niddy noddys. I also adjusted my carder cover pattern to make a cover for my extra wide carders & for the flicker brush.

#FallforCostume Day 16: Tools and Techniques

Choosing to share my tool pegboard and sewing machine for today! I just got the pegboard last year and it has changed my life. No more digging through drawers looking for that one specific tool 😭

I love my old Viking Husqvarna sewing machine so much. It's my favorite and preferred machine to use even though I own a couple newer ones now. It was my late grandmother's machine from the 60s; she was a seamstress and I inherited most of her sewing equipment as a kid. It is unfortunate that I was too young and did not get the chance to get to know her well, but I feel happy and honored that I've been able to learn how to sew on her machine and still use it to this day.

This machine is amazing, it's solid metal, built like a tank, and will sew through anything. It got through all the leather sewing on my GoT costumes and only started to complain at 4+ layers of leather 😅

I'm so excited to show you all my very first box!

I made this box specifically for my desk which made me a lot more forgiving of the little imperfections that are part and parcel of a first attempt. But despite that, I'm ridiculously happy with how this turned out.

The final dimensions are 7"x10"x2.5" and it's now holding all my bone folders, pencils, glue, and various other tools that have been floating around my desk and drawers since I set up my workspace.

Also, nothing beats the shine of that gold. 🌟

I’ve never had any dedicated storage for my most used tools. I don’t know how many times I’ve wandered around my sewing room trying to find tools and where I’ve placed them… Even if I had a toolbox, it would take up way too much space, which is already pretty limited. I’ve seen crafty magnetic chalk boards on Pinterest and stuff, but usually not for big tools. This tutorial will go through how I managed to get a functional magnetic storage system for my tools!
