dink meeker and fly molo for the thing

friq this is gonna be mad out of character its been so long since ive talked about them omg

dink: 

1.dutch stuff and also a lot of political shit like system of a down hes really into hardcore punk stuff but he also likes acoustics every once in a while, underground rap but hes really picky about it

2. he falls asleep on the floor sometimes mostly bc he comes home drunk or really exhausted from a protest or somethin (i always put these meme things in weird au’s i never do them regularly oops)

3. hes horrible at video games but he plays them anyway except hes killer at pokemon nobodies ever won a pokemon battle against him

4. the weed maple leaf thing bc hes a mad stoner and jokes about it 24/7 and a lot of people dont realize hes not actually joking when hes like “lol gotta get blazed b4 this interview” 

5. literally dead dink cant even function without sleep unless hes consumed mass amounts of chocolate milk dont ask why but it works better than coffee and its amazing for hangovers

6. tea bc when hes not being punk hes hipster trash

7. he watches movies and hangs out with fly and sleeps a lot, mostly with fly

8. first president and then a vet and then a doctor and one day somebody said that he wouldnt be able to be a doctor bc he was gonna end up in a gang and he was really confused as to why someone would say that and so he went home and did some research and got really mad about a lot of things concerning the government and our society and he decided hed try and fix it

9. he likes summer because he gets to wear these trashy jean shorts that he cut from regular jeans a few years back and he sowed studs into the pockets and fly thinks theyre gross but hes just jealous because theyre fab

10. he raps but hes actually super good at it and its mostly about politics and but sometimes he gets poetic and sappy and he can sing somewhat decently if he has to 

11. hes a hella artist actually and he usually draws simplistic stuff and hes really into watercolors and charcoals

fly: 

1. he likes punk and 90s stuff hes also really into rap basically the same music taste as dink

2. he falls asleep in the closet sometimes nobody questions it it just happens

3. hes a beast at mortal kombat dont even try him he will drill you to the ground

4. he uses the smirk one bc he only texts dink and thats all they do

5. he doesnt act different in the slightest he just gets little dark circles under his eyes but theyre barely noticeable and everyones jealous of it

6. hot coco!! wearing leather and studs and having a killer mohawk doesnt mean u cant enjoy hot coco

7. he hits up dink and they buy a lot of alcohol and set up a bunch of pillows and mattresses on the floor and argue about stuff and eventually dink talks him out of whatever slump hes in

8. he wanted to be an astronaut bc who wouldnt want to go into space but then he dropped out of high school and he figured that hope was lost 

9. fall because its cold enough to wear pants but warm enough to wear short sleeves and dink looks beautiful up against the auburn leaves and the smell of it mixed with his cigarette smoke makes him a sweet sort of dizzy and its the season he is in love with his best friend

10. he cant sing for shit but he can carry a beat pretty well so he usually just taps along while dink raps but he cant be blamed if he messes up every once in a while because sometimes its just hard to focus on anything but dink when hes in his element 

11. flys actually a fantastic artist and he has a ton of sketchbooks and he usually gives them to dink to fill in with watercolor but he has a few secret ones thats just sketches of cigarette smoke and messy beds and studded jean shorts and dink dink dink.

whispers soft grunge dink/punk fly for the prompt thingy

(this is gonna be apocalypse au ok)

Dink sits curled up in the corner of the musty storage room that has served as their shelter for weeks. In one hand, he holds a tattered copy of Going Dutch: How England Plundered Holland that Fly had no doubt Dink could recite word for word. With his other hand, he tugs at the ends of his curling, cotton candy pink hair. It had become another one of Dink’s nervous ticks, like the way his tongue crept out to tease the silver ring through his lower lip, something to do when he wasn’t quite sure what to do with himself. 

His hair was getting long, Fly notices. How long had it been since he had had a haircut? How long has it been since either of them had even thought of getting a haircut? 

He thinks of Dink, the way he was before the world went to shit; the arrogant smirk that Fly had once found so incredibly irksome; his tightly curled pink hair that had been his pride and joy. If that Dink could see himself now - weary, defeated, his hair long and unkempt, with only half an inch or so of his signature pink at the tips - what would he say? 

The next time Fly makes a run into town, he manages to convince Bean to come with him on a detour to the local hair salon. He rummages through the cabinets, doing his best to ignore the way Bean paced around impatiently. 

When they return, Fly throws a bottle of pink hair dye into Dink’s lap. He doesn’t even look up from his book, just says, “You better not be telling me that you risked your eemo life just to get a bottle of some kuso beauty product.”

In the morning, Fly wakes up to the sound of loud, impassioned voices. This storage room was much too small to accommodate so many people at once. Tensions were bound to run high. He rubs his eyes, still groggy, blinks twice, and hides a grin. 

Crazy Tom is on his feet in the middle of the storage room, waving Dink’s tattered book in the air while Dink stands with his arms crossed, feet planted firmly apart. It is such a familiar sight: Tom in impassioned speech, throwing his arms up and yelling; Dink standing solid, steadily returning Tom’s verbal volleys with quick facts and hard logic. Such scenes occurred regularly, even before they had been forced into hiding. No one ever bothered to tell them to shut up, though, because it was one of the only things in the world that hasn’t changed. 

But when Fly looks up, he can almost swear that nothing has. Because there’s Dink, his hair once again that soft pink that he had once taken so much pride in, a little smirk tilting one side of his mouth up, because he knows that he’s already won the argument with Tom. 

This is what Fly Molo had risked his life for the other day. Not some stupid bottle of hair dye. A reminder. That despite their world crumbling around them, that they can still hold on to a piece of themselves, that they didn’t have to lose themselves along with everything else. 

Not that Fly would ever admit to harboring such silly, sentimental thoughts over a bottle of some kuso beauty product.
