Pi Day: Featuring Garnet and Pearl from Smoke and Grit.

Garnet trudged up to her front door, heavy boots thumping against the wood.  With a flick of her wrist it was unlocked and in another the hinged object was pushed open.  The tiredness consuming her mind from a long shift patrolling the streets of Beach City were shoved away by the sweet smells that hit her the instant she walked into her house.  Garnet stood still as a statue, covered eyes taking in the sight.  On top of every available surface that wasn’t a chair, floor, or couch was a baked pie.  A quick count came up with fifteen.  Garnet then turned her focus to her girlfriend Pearl who was mumbling as she strode from one end of the kitchen to the other.  Hands pushed the door closed with a firm snap.  Pearl’s attention was so absorbed in her task of making more of the pastry that she didn’t even notice Garnet making her way to her.  The place was relatively clean despite the massive baking feat that was underway.  Garnet knew Pearl liked to keep her area tidy.

“That’s a lot of pie for pi day,” the officer commented, her low accented voice finally catching the pale woman’s attention.

“How the fuck did you appear there!” Pearl screeched as she brandished the flour covered rolling pin in her hands.

“I just got done with work, and walked through the door,” Garnet smirked as she pointed to the mentioned object.

Light blue eyes followed her hand.  “I see...”

The thin woman returned to her task of rolling out yet another pie crust.

“What is that one going to be?”

“Chocolate silk, I’ve done all the one’s you bake, now for something cold.”

Covered eyes scanned over all of the pies.  “I’m going to have a slice of each.”

“By the stars you are not,” Pearl grumbled.

“I am,” Garnet insisted.

“Need I remind you of the last time you did that?  You had a horrid stomach ache.  And you’re not as young as you were back then, it’ll stick easier.”

“I’m still gonna do it.”

Pearl sighed.  “Fine have as many slices as you want, as long as it’s not from a pie I’m giving away.”

Garnet halted mid celebration.  “How many are you giving away?”

“All but two.”

“What?!”

“I’m not going to let you eat a slice out of Steven’s pie and you know Amethyst will have your head if you had one of hers.”

The dark woman huffed and folded her arms across her chest.  “So which two are the available ones?”

Pearl slid over a cool pie that was marked with a “G” written with extra pie crust.  “I made this one for you, it’s your favorite, blackberry.”

“Yes!” Garnet lifted up the pie for a second before setting it back down.  “Wait what’s the second one?”

“The other one is mine and I’m not telling you which one it is until I’ve had a slice.”

Broad shoulders fell.  Covered eyes drifted over the pies again.  “Is it the one marked with a ‘P’?”

A glare from her girlfriend made Garnet back off.

“Once I get this in the fridge would you help me deliver these?  I’d rather not walk around with thirteen pies.”

“Of course.”

“Thanks,” Pearl stepped away from her work to give Garnet a quick peck on the lips.

Garnet smiled at that.  She eyed her pie once again.

“I’m going to eat this whole thing,” she stated.

“Oh my stars!”

(Slightly continued from when SG Garnet meets R&R Sardonyx and is now wandering around in the archduchess’s manor)

SG Garnet slowly walked through the halls, head turning this way and that trying to absorb every stunning detail of the decor.  From the artwork, to the architecture, to the interior design, is was extravagant and breathtaking.  She could spend hours just admiring everything.  However, when her stomach grumbled yet again, she needed to find the kitchen before too long and see if she could get something to eat.  As SG Garnet turned into the next hallway, booted feet stopped.  Covered eyes widened as they landed on the pale, thin woman washing one of the windows.  Other than the attire the woman was wearing and her color of hair being a slightly different shade, she looked almost exactly like her girlfriend SG Pearl.  SG Garnet walked towards her and stopped when the other noticed and faced her.  Light blue eyes looked her up and down, confusion shone in her irises.

SG Garnet: “My name is Garnet, what is yours?” she stuck out her hand.

R&R Pearl: “Pearl,” she formally curtsied.

For some reason SG Garnet found it completely adorable, and odd to see a Pearl being so proper.  SG Garnet coughed.

SG Garnet: “So you work here for Lady Sardonyx?”

R&R Pearl: “I do, I am one of her servants.”

SG Garnet nodded, wracking her brain for what other things she could try talking about.

R&R Pearl: “Those are some odd trousers you have, never seen any like it.  Your shirt either.”

SG Garnet: “Well I ummm, I think I’m from a different time period than you.  This type of clothing is pretty common where I come from.”

R&R Pearl continued to stare at her.  SG Garnet caught the light blue eyes wandering to her forearms.  She discretely flexed them.  A dusting of red appeared on the pale woman’s face.

R&R Pearl: “Well it was nice to meet you Miss Garnet, I need to get back to my job now.”

SG Garnet didn’t want to end the conversation just yet.  “Do you by chance know where the kitchen is?  I pretty hungry and would like to eat something.”

R&R Pearl: “Oh, I do, I can take you there if you’d like.”

SG Garnet: “I’d love it if you did,” she gave the woman a charming smile.

More red seeped onto cheeks as she motioned for the officer to follow her.  It wasn’t hard to catch R&R Pearl sneaking glances at her.  SG Garnet had to try her best not to grin about it, especially since she could stare at the woman all she wanted and not get caught because of her sunglasses.

R&R Pearl: “Bismuth should be able to take care of you, I’ll introduce you to her,” she began as she opened the door to the kitchen.  Narrow shoulders fell when no Bismuth could be found.  “She was just here.”

SG Garnet: “No worries, just point me to some tools and food and I can cook up something really quick.”

R&R Pearl: “Well um, there is some leftover bread there and I know where some cheese and cured sausage is.”

SG Garnet: “That will work fantastically, thank you!” she agreed as she grabbed an apple and began to munch on it.  “I’ll slice up this tasty looking bread.  Want me to cut some for you?”

R&R Pearl should have said no, that she needed to get to work, but instead the words to cut her two slices tumbled out.  The attractive woman who reminded her of R&R Garnet smiled and nodded, promising to have everything ready by the time she came back with the cheese and sausage.  Red faced and thoroughly flustered, R&R Pearl swiftly walked to the meat cooler and grabbed the items.  By the time she got back not only had SG Garnet set out plates, cups of water, and the bread, but also had sliced up another apple for R&R Pearl to have.  The cheese and sausage were then neatly sliced and stacked onto the bread.  They ate together, casually talking while enjoying the simple meal.  R&R Pearl learned that SG Garnet was a police officer and was from a time period nearly 200 years in the future.  R&R Pearl took great interest in the various items on her utility belt.  From the Swiss arm knife to the, fancy gun, to the odd weapon in her hand.

SG Garnet: “It’s a Taser.  You pull the trigger and these prongs shoot out and electrocute the person.”

R&R Pearl: “Electrocute?”

SG Garnet: “Yeah, like getting hit by lightening, but not nearly as powerful.  It’s a non lethal option, but has a short range.”

R&R Pearl hummed as she examined it even further.  Her fingers itched to pull the trigger and see what happens, but decided against it.  The Taser was put away.  SG Garnet collected their empty plates and began to wash them.  R&R Pearl watched with awe, this woman was certainly strange, it was her job to prepare food and take care of the dishes.

SG Garnet stretched and growled before letting out a satisfied smile.  “Thank you Pearl, I was pretty hungry.  Sorry for pulling you away from your work, but it was nice to meet you.” The officer held out her hand once again for a shake.

R&R Pearl took the offered hand, but instead her brought it to her lips and pressed a soft kiss on the knuckles.

R&R Pearl: “It was my pleasure to meet you and assist you, Miss Garnet.”

SG Garnet’s heart skipped inside her chest.

SG Pearl walked into the house she shared with SG Garnet cracking her neck as she made her way to the kitchen for a glass of water.  It was past the time SG Garnet usually got home each day, but she hadn’t seen or heard her in the house.  Casually she poked her head into the master bedroom seeing if she was there.  In the dark light, she could make out the tall figure sleeping on the bed.  A smirk played on her lips as she sneaked into the room and silently crept up to the figure.  SG Pearl furrowed her eyebrows when she noticed Garnet’s attire.  A full ballgown from the 1800′s that looked incredibly authentic.  She didn’t know Garnet had this, but she wasn’t complaining, Garnet looked stunning in it.  SG Pearl sat down on the side of the bed and tenderly brushed a stray dreadlock to the side of her girlfriend’s face.  She wasn’t entirely sure why Garnet had gotten all dressed up.  A low chuckle burst from her lips.  Garnet looked like a sleeping beauty that was put under a spell.

“Perhaps a kiss to break the spell and wake her up.”

SG Pearl leaned close, letting her breath brush over the woman’s ear.  “Wake up beautiful, I’m home.”  She pressed a feather light kiss on her cheek, then moved to the other ear.  “Wake up my sweet Garnet.” The sentence was punctuated with another brush of her lips on the woman’s face.

Brown eyes fluttered open and started right into blue ones.  SG Pearl smiled and pressed a kiss to Garnet’s lips.  It was a surprisingly short kiss as Garnet didn’t respond at all.  SG Pearl pulled back and stared at her girlfriend with confusion.  Wide brown eyes stared at her, the woman unusually tense.  SG Pearl narrowed her eyes.  Two brown eyes.  “Are you ok Garnet?” she asked.

R&R Garnet: “P-Pearl?!  Is that you?”

SG Pearl was deeply troubled, she quickly looked over the woman who was sleeping in their bed.  Similar body structure, but without any of the muscular definition she knew SG Garnet had.  Hair was done up in dreadlocks, and most importantly, the presence of two brown eyes instead of the half blind one.  SG Pearl pulled away even more.  The woman looked like her Garnet, but wasn’t at all.

R&R Garnet laid there on the bed stiff as a board, unsure of what to do.  First of all, she had no idea where she was.  The last thing she remembered was being overwhelmed at her change of scenery and time line.  From there everything was blank.  She did remember the nice, and if she dared to admit, stunning woman who must have been the one to take her in.  Now she was facing another woman who looked a lot like Pearl, but was dressed and spoke very differently.  To add to that her face was burning, she had just been kissed!  By a woman no less!  In hindsight she didn’t mind, but it was a bit shocking.

SG Pearl backed away, her face heating up at her actions towards what looked like to be a guest of theirs.  “I....I thought you were my girlfriend, Garnet, sorry about that...rude awakening.  I’m Pearl.”

R&R Garnet’s mind was all over the place.  Girlfriend?!  The woman’s name was also Pearl?!  R&R Garnet swallowed and composed herself after a few seconds.  “I am Lady Garnet,” she said as she sat up.

SG Pearl: “Lady Garnet?”

R&R Garnet: “Yes.  I am the Duchess of Osmington in England.”

SG Pearl: “Shit...like for reals you’re not fucking with me?”

R&R Garnet pulled back at such crass words.  “Such unladylike language!”

SG Pearl raised an eyebrow.  “I am no lady.”

R&R Garnet: “Then what shall I call you?”

SG Pearl: “Pearl works fine.”

R&R Garnet: “Alright then Pearl works fine, would you please tell me where I am?”

SG Pearl paused, she wasn’t sure if that wording was intentional or not.  “You’re in my, or more technically, Garnet’s house.  In our bed.  I thought you were her, so I tried waking you up like I would do to her.”

R&R Garnet: “Garnet is the woman who looks like me, wears trousers, and has the beautiful thick curly hair?”

SG Pearl: “Yeah, that’s her.”

R&R Garnet: “And you both live here,” she swallowed, “and share this bed?”

SG Pearl: “Yup.”

R&R Garnet: “Why do you share a bed?”

SG Pearl didn’t really anticipate that question.  Her mouth ran before her mind could catch up.  “To fuck each other senseless on a regular basis.”

R&R Garnet didn’t know if she should be scandalized or intrigued.  There was no hiding, it was plain in the open.  Two women living together, sharing a bed, and more.  She wanted to learn more about this relationship between two women.  “Tell me Pearl works fine, how does one,” she braced herself to prepare for saying the crude word. “fuck each other senseless?”

SG Pearl: “Well um...” Pearl coughed as her eyes inadvertently looked over R&R Garnet once again.  The woman was every bit as beautiful as SG Garnet, but had a much softer and regal look to her.  A blush dusted her cheeks.  “Normally I like to start with some teasing words, to set the tone, let her know I’m interested and want to have sex with her.”

“Like what?”  R&R Garnet pressed as she leaned forward.  While SG Pearl wasn’t much like the Pearl she knew, there was a definite appeal of her rougher attitude.

SG Pearl: “Like, hey there beautiful, you’re looking awfully lonely tonight, care for some company?”

R&R Garnet: “I wouldn’t mind your company,” came the lower tone.  “We could have some tea if you’d like.”

SG Pearl’s heart hammered in her chest at the drop of R&R Garnet’s voice, it was similar to SG Garnet’s, but not exactly.  “I’d like the tea, do you have any sugar?”

R&R Garnet: “I don’t have any sugar,” she frowned.

SG Pearl sighed.  “Not like the actual thing, but,” she breathed out and internally debated her action and potential consequences.

“Oh fuck it.”

SG Pearl leaned forward and placed a kiss on R&R Garnet’s lips.  “That kind of sugar.  A little bit of sweetness,” she explained.

The light turned on for R&R Garnet.  It definitely was sweet.  “I think you need a little more sugar for that, the tea is quite bitter.”  R&R Garnet grasped SG Pearl’s face and pulled her in for a lingering kiss.

SG Pearl’s mouth hung open after they parted.  “You look awfully hot in your clothing, perhaps I could help you remove some of it?”  The words slipped past her filter once again.  Lady Garnet was turning out to be someone she would have a hard time resisting.

R&R Garnet scooted even closer to her.  “I would appreciate your help to do so.”

SG Pearl was about to reach towards R&R Garnet when a new voice joined them.

“What is going on here?”

SG Pearl whirled around to see her Garnet standing in the doorway.

“Garnet!” SG Pearl jumped to her feet.

“Garnet!” R&R Garnet smiled as she recognized the attractive woman that had been so kind to her earlier.

SG Garnet’s expression was hard to read, but she didn’t look mad at least.  SG Pearl crookedly smiled.  “Oh just getting acquainted.”

PoP Garnet and SG Garnet: Round 2

It was one of those few times SG Garnet took to enjoy herself at Funland.  A small and kinda cheesy amusement park, but it was nice to get away from her cares now and then.  While she didn’t do too well on the rides, multiple concussions made it easy for roller coasters to give her a headache, but the fairground games were where it was at.  The first classical one came into view.  A simple hammer hitting the target to see how high the meter would go.  SG Garnet stepped up, paid the fee, and grabbed the offered hammer.  Muscular arms tensed, lifted the hammer high into the sky, then slammed it on the metal cylinder.  Lights and sounds went off as the indicator rose higher and higher, slowing down only to stop five feet before the top.  It was just a warm up.  Another sum was paid and SG Garnet swung again.  This time it stopped four feet from the top.  The dark woman frowned.

One more try.

Garnet paid the worker and turned to retrieve the hammer only to see a familiar strong, stoic figure lifting the hammer high over her head.  Bulging muscles flexed and the impact of the hammer hitting the cylinder rang through the air.  Lights and sounds lit up rapidly as the indicator was shot to the top.  More bells and whistles rang out.  SG Garnet went slightly slack jawed.

Funland worker: “Which prize do you want?  You can pick from these stuffed animals.”

SG Garnet turned to PoP Garnet to redirect the question only to see the woman walking away.  SG Garnet quickly picked out a shark stuffed animal and run to catch up with the intimidating figure.

SG Garnet: “Hey!  You were supposed to pick out the prize.”

PoP Garnet said nothing and kept walking.  SG Garnet was about to speak up again when the taller Garnet pointed to another booth.  This one was where you were supposed to knock the jars down with a ball.

SG Garnet: “Let’s not do that one, it’s rigged.”

PoP Garnet ignored the comment and walked over.  She grabbed a couple of balls and prepared to throw them.  SG Garnet quickly ran over and paid the fee so the worker didn’t get upset.  It took PoP Garnet only two balls to topple the tower of jugs.  SG Garnet gave it a shot and was able to hit down half of the jugs.  PoP Garnet smirked and walked away leaving SG Garnet to frantically pick out another stuffed animal.

This continued for several booths.  PoP Garnet would pick one out and win after a try or two, while SG might win in her attempts.  SG paid all of the fees and was slowly being mobbed by the mass of stuffed animals PoP kept on winning.  After a bit SG Garnet tried to offer PoP Garnet some fair food, but the muscular fighter just refused leaving the cop to eat all of the blue and pink cotton candy on her own.  Daytime faded to evening, which darkened into night.  The two passed by a shooting type game with fake handguns and targets.  PoP Garnet pointed to that one.

SG Garnet: “You want to try that one out?”

A nod.

SG Garnet: “Alright,” she grinned.  Finally one she had a chance at winning.

With all of the stuffed animals set to the side and the two fees paid, both women stood ready and waiting for the bell to ring.  When the buzzer went of guns went off like crazy.  Targets fell down one right after another.  Out of the corner of SG Garnet’s eye she noticed PoP pausing and trying to switch out a non existent clip.  The woman had kept track of her shots.  SG Garnet also noticed that PoP Garnet’s posture and form was perfect for someone who had military training.  That discovery sent shivers down her spine.

SG Garnet: “You just keep shooting!”

PoP Garnet: “That’s not how it works,” came the grumble.

SG Garnet: “It’s a game!  Just keep going.”

PoP Garnet resumed firing with deadly accuracy.  The buzzer went off and their scores were displayed.  SG Garnet whistled and shook her head.  PoP Garnet’s score was double, mostly due to bulls-eyes and a larger number of targets hits despite her pause.

SG Garnet: “You win again,” she chuckled.

The tiniest of smirks could be seen in the corner of her lips.

SG Garnet: “Want to pick out the prize this time?”

PoP Garnet simply shook her head and began to walk away.  By the time SG Garnet had gathered all of the stuffed animals the muscular woman had disappeared.  SG sighed in exasperation.  She had been hoping for some help getting all of the prizes back into the car.

R&R Sardonyx meeting SG Garnet! ✨please?

SG Garnet sighed as she dangled upside down from the tree, her feet comically stuck between two branches that had grown close together.  Fortunately, her thick work boots were protecting her for the most part.  Another sigh drifted past her lips before she curled up to get a better look at how to get out of the tree.  Hands gripped the thicker areas of a branch and she carefully wiggled one foot free.  Arms strained to hold her weight while the second foot was freed.  With a less than graceful thump, SG Garnet dropped to the grassy, yet firm ground ten feet or so below.  Slowly she stood back up, looking around at the orchard she was in trying to figure out how on Earth she ended up where she was.  The sound of horse hooves drew her attention to the figure riding up to her.  On the saddle was a tall woman with honey blonde curls and copper skin dressed in similar attire to Lady Garnet SG Garnet had met a few weeks ago.  The main difference was this woman’s dress was all black.  Hazelnut eyes looked directly at her, assessing her.

R&R Sardonyx: “What business do you have in my orchards?  I know not who you are.”

SG Garnet sighed: “Ma’am I have no idea how I got here.  One moment I’m patrolling the streets of Beach City, the next I’m hanging upside down in this tree.” she motioned to the one towering over her.

R&R Sardonyx: “A likely tale.  What is your name?”

SG Garnet: “Garnet Hall, ma’am.”

One well maintained eyebrow was raised as an ever so slight smile curled in the corner of R&R Sardonyx’s lips.

R&R Sardonyx: “I see the resemblance, though my friend and you have a number of differences, mostly in build and hairstyle.  If I lead you to my estate, will you be an honorable guest or shall I have my guard escort you away?”

SG Garnet raised up her hands.  “I promise not to be of any trouble to you.  I just want to know where I am and how I can get back to my home.”

R&R Sardonyx: “You are in Dorchester, England, at my estate.  I am Sardonyx Lennox, Archduchess of Dorchester.”

SG Garnet rubbed her forehead groaning slightly.  “…what year is it?”

R&R Sardonyx: “1807.”

SG Garnet sighed.  “So I traveled back in time too,” she muttered as she recalled the date R&R Garnet had mentioned. “Do you know a Lady Garnet?  Of Osmington?”

R&R Sardonyx turned to look at her from where she sat on her horse.  “I do.  She is a dear friend of mine.  Are you acquainted with her?”

SG Garnet scratched the back of her neck.  “Yeah we ran into each other in my world and time line.  I let her stay at my place until she just randomly disappeared.”

R&R Sardonyx.  “Well then, any friend of hers is a friend of mine.  Follow me, I will take you back to the manor.”

SG Garnet: “Thanks.”

R&R Sardonyx encouraged her horse onward at a slow pace.  SG Garnet walked along with her.  They exchanged small talk as they made their way to the Dorchester manor.

SG Garnet warily patrolled the streets, keeping an eye on the numerous trick or treaters running around in their costumes.  Pranksters, most likely Amethyst and her family, were to be calmly dealt with and halted before any serious damage could be done to people’s property, candy, or costumes.  Out of the corner of her eye she spotted Steven running along the boardwalk in a falcon costume.  She smiled seeing his good spirits.

Steven: “Woohooo, 1 2 3 lift off!” with that Steven jumped into the air letting his floating ability allow him to drift through the air.

SG Garnet’s mouth dropped open and rushed over to catch the floating? young teen.  “Steven!  I’ve got you!”

Steven turned to face a Beach City go-er who looked an awful lot like Garnet, except human.  As he drifted back to the ground he flapped his arms and screeched like a falcon.  “Don’t worry, I can do that.  I’m ok, see?”

SG Garnet stopped and stared at the boy with confusion.  “I…wasn’t aware that you could fly?”

Steven: “Well not really fly, just float when I’m really happy.”

“Oh…ok,” SG Garnet scratched the side of her head.  “Just be careful out there ok?  Don’t want anyone to get hurt.”

Steven: “Thank you!  What is your name by the way?”

SG Garnet chuckled.  “Really Steven?  I know it’s Halloween and everyone’s dressed up, but you know me.”

Steven nervously chuckled.  “I know everyone in Beach City, but I’ve never met you before.  It’s really strange, and you remind me of one of my guardians Garnet.”

SG Garnet: “My name is Garnet.”

Steven: “What?!?!  That’s so cool!  You have her name too!” stars formed in his eyes.

SG Garnet: “So wait, if you’re Steven, but then not the Steven I know since you didn’t know me.  Is your guardian Garnet really tall and muscular?  Like three inches taller than me?”

Steven: “Oh no, she’s like at least a foot or two taller than you.”

A hidden eyebrow was raised.  SG Garnet decided to not push the topic further.  “Well I guess I should formally introduce myself.  I’m Garnet Hall, a police officer for Beach City.”

Steven: “I’m Steven a member of the Crystal Gems who fight to protect Earth!” he grinned as he pulled out this shield with a sparkly flash.

SG Garnet blinked several times, just standing there slack jawed.  Nothing was making sense, like usual.  “Oh..!  Well thank you then.  Since I haven’t had to deal with any invaders from space I’d say you’re doing a pretty good job.”

“Yeah…” Steven nervously scratched his head.  “We’ll keep doing our best so it stays that way!” he finished with a partially strained grin.

“Well I need to keep patrolling, but just so you know Barb, Vadalia, and Greg usually have the best candy up for grabs.”

Steven’s eyes turned into stars once again.  “Sweeto Burrito!  Thank you Garnet!” he waved as he ran/floated off.

SG Garnet just chuckled and shook her head.  She wasn’t going to worry about another strange duplicate in Beach City.  The world could use more Stevens.

what if SG Garnet met Repute and Rapture Garnet?

SG Garnet warily patrolled the streets, the past few weeks had been rough.  Finally recovered from her concussion and other injuries from the incident that happened but didn’t happen.  No memories had come back.  Eyebrows furrowed behind the new set of thankfully bulletproof sunglasses.

“Is there a festival or something going on?”

Pacing around on the street ignoring, or simply not aware of the traffic rules, was a breathtaking woman.  Shoulder length dreadlocks pulled back into a bun, rich dark skin, delicate but angular features, head held high, and wearing a fancy pink and blue dress that had to come right from the Victorian era.  SG Garnet did not fail to notice the uncanny similiar appearance the two of them shared.

“If her name happens to be Garnet I’m going straight home and restarting my day.”‘

SG Garnet: “Ma’am?” she cautiously approached the woman standing in the thankfully empty street.  “Can I help you?”

R&R Garnet stands tall and levels the oddly dressed figure with an intense gaze.  “Lady Osmington will do.”

SG Garnet sucks in a quick breath.  “Her eyes look just like mine used to.”

SG Garnet: “Alright…Lady Osmington…” she comes closer and begins to usher her out of the street, but thinks better of it.  “You look a little lost, can I help you?”

R&R Garnet: “Indeed, this is a strange place.  Metal carriages moving without horses, people holding small glowing squares,” eyes looked SG Garnet over really quick, “a woman wearing trousers.  I’ve seen several other women wearing them too.”

SG Garnet cleared her throat.  “Well wearing…trousers…even for women is considered normal here.”

R&R Garnet: “Really?!” a slight hint of intrigue could be detected in her tone.  “Please explain.”

SG Garnet: “I would gladly, but if you wouldn’t mind, Lady Osmington, may I escort you out of the street?”  SG Garnet offered her elbow, she had seen this type of courtesy done on those 1800s romance movies.

R&R Garnet: “Why?  Is there something wrong with standing here?”

SG Garnet: “Well the horseless, metal carriages are permitted to move in this area and they so do at high speeds, it is dangerous to stand in this area.  But the raised sections on the side, called sidewalks, are open for people to walk on.  May I escort you, My Lady, to the sidewalk?”

R&R Garnet contemplates her words for a moment.  “You may, ma’am,” she said as she slipped her hand into the crook of SG Garnet’s extended elbow.

SG Garnet’s heart skipped a beat at the contact.  Slowly she guided the beautiful woman to the sidewalk.

R&R Garnet turned and faced her, expectant. 

SG Garnet: “Women wearing trousers has been considered normal for the past forty almost fifty years.  Fashion has changed over time.”

R&R Garnet’s eyes were filled with confusion.  “What year is it?”

SG Garnet: “2017.”

R&R Garnet breaths in quickly as her eyes go wide.  “2017?!?”

SG Garnet: “Yup.”

R&R Garnet braces her hands on the side of her face.  “The last year I remember was 1807?!  How?!  How is this even possible?!”

SG Garnet was now confused.  “The last year you remember was 1807?”

R&R Garnet frantically nodded.  “Yes!”

SG Garnet: “But that’s 210 years ago…where are you from?”

R&R Garnet: “I am Lady Garnet Collingwood, the Duchess of Osmington.”

SG Garnet: “What country?”

“Wait, Garnet?  Are you kidding me…”

R&R Garnet: “England of course!  Where am I now?”

SG Garnet: “You are in Beach City, in the United States of America.”

R&R Garnet reeled.  “The States…210 years…” she teetered on her feet.  “Pearl…Sardonyx…they’re all…” it was too much the shock of everything.  R&R Garnet passed out.

SG Garnet rushed forward as she collapsed, catching her in time to prevent injury.  SG Garnet breathed out a sigh of relief.  With a huff she picked up Lady Garnet and began to carry her bridal style.

“My place is closer than the police station, I’ll just take her there.”

Slowly SG Garnet made her way to her house.

SG Garnet: “I’ve been running into them over the past few weeks, I thought it would be helpful if you two met them as well.”  She looked at away from her mothers up to the three Garnets standing at the meeting place.  “It took a while for me to get them all here, I honestly don’t know how the tallest one got here…Just prepare yourselves, it’s a little odd a first to see someone who looks like me.

SG Ruby and Sapphire followed her gaze and saw R&R Garnet, C Garnet, and PoP Garnet standing nearby each other.  R&R Garnet and C Garnet were engaged in a light conversation while PoP Garnet was just silently observing them.

SG Garnet: “Hey!  All of you.  Lady Garnet,” she respectfully bowed to R&R Garnet, “Garnet,” she nodded to C Garnet, “and Garnet,” she cautiously addressed PoP Garnet.  “Meet my mothers, Ruby and Sapphire.  I wasn’t sure if you all shared the same mothers as me, but since we all had our similarities I figured that it wouldn’t hurt.”

R&R Garnet rushed forward only to stop a couple of feet away as her eyes examined the two older women.  She began to speak in Swahili, however when Ruby and Sapphire only looked at her in confusion she stopped.

SG Ruby: “You have our daughter’s beautiful eyes,” she directed to R&R Garnet.  “I am Ruby, and while I may not be your mother, I am honored to meet you,” she extended her hand out for a greeting.

R&R Garnet took it and gently shook it.  A small smile formed on her lips.  “Your hands do feel like my mother Ruby’s.  She lives in my homeland, Tanzania, I have not seen her or my mother Sapphire since I was 12.”

SG Ruby: “From one Ruby to another, I know she would want to give you a big hug,” she held her arms out wide.

R&R Garnet quickly accepted the offered hug.  They held onto each other tightly.  R&R Garnet’s frame began to shake as tears streamed down her face.  SG Ruby rubbed circles into her back as salty lines of water also decorated her cheeks.

C Garnet breathed out heavily as she looked at SG Sapphire.  C Garnet fell to her knees.  “It’s like…it’s like I get to see them again…” A hand quickly wiped away the tear that was running down her cheek.  Another rapidly replaced it.  “It’s been so long.” she sobbed.  “They’ve been gone forever…I never thought…I never thought I’d get the chance….the chance to see you again.  But you’re not my mother…but you look so much like her.”

SG Sapphire quickly ran to the teenager and held her tightly.  “Your loss is truly terrible.  I’m so sorry.”

C Garnet cried loudly into SG Sapphire’s shoulder, strong arms holding the older woman as close as possible.  SG Sapphire gently hummed one of SG Garnet’s favorite bedtime songs into C Garnet’s ear.

After several minutes SG Ruby and Sapphire exchanged a glance and a short conversation was made so R&R Garnet and C Garnet could have the opportunity to talk to the other.  More tears flowed, but this time smiles could be seen.

C Garnet: “This has to be one of the best moments of my life ever.”

R&R Garnet nodded.

SG Garnet turned to look at PoP Garnet who had yet to say anything or make any sudden movements.  However, PoP Garnet was incredibly tense, her hands were curled into fists, every muscle in her body flexed, lips pressed into a tight frown/grimace.

SG Sapphire and Ruby let C Garnet and R&R Garnet go and began to walk over to her.

SG Ruby: “I’ve got a big hug for you, if you want,” she offered with a smile.

PoP Garnet pulled back, slightly weirded out.  SG Sapphire continued to approach.  She reached up towards PoP Garnet’s face.  SG Garnet watched the interaction carefully, looking for any sign of PoP Garnet lashing out and possibly hurting her mothers.  SG Sapphire was only inches away from touching PoP Garnet’s face.

PoP Garnet: “STAY AWAY FROM ME!” she jumped back her loud voice filled with anguish.

SG Sapphire: “Garnet…” she softly whispered as she took a step towards the woman.

PoP Garnet: “NO!  STAY AS FAR AWAY AS POSSIBLE!”

When SG Sapphire took one more step closer, PoP Garnet turned and ran away at an astonishing speed.  It took only minutes for her to disappear from sight. SG Sapphire dropped her hand and looked at the ground.  SG Ruby rushed over to her and embraced her.

SG Ruby: “Do you know what that was all about?” she directed to SG Garnet.

SG Garnet: “I have no idea…”

C Garnet and R&R Garnet walked over and joined in on the hug.  SG Sapphire motioned for SG Garnet to get in as well.  All five of them held each other.

SG Sapphire: “We have four daughters now.”

SG Ruby: “Including the one that ran off?”

SG Sapphire: “Especially her.”

SG Ruby nodded.  “I don’t care what mythical laws, or paperwork, or biology says, you all are our daughters for now and forever.”

C Garnet’s face lit up, grinning widely.  R&R Garnet did the same.
