Aishwarya Rai in Shabd (2005)
We don’t have a moral compass, we have a taste preference
If you kill a cockroach, you’re a hero. If you kill a butterfly, you’re a villain.
Morality isn’t about the act.
It’s about the costume.
We like to think we have a moral compass.
We don’t.
We have an aesthetic preference.
The cockroach survives everything.
It outlives disasters. Adapts. Endures. Persists.
But it’s ugly
so we crush it without thinking twice.
The butterfly is fragile.
Temporary. Breakable. Gone in days.
But it’s beautiful
so we turn it into poetry.
And it makes me wonder
how much of what we call “evil” just… doesn’t look good in the light?
How many things have we destroyed for not being pretty enough to protect?
We don’t value life.
We value how it looks when we’re looking at it.

Tum mujhse puchte ho ki, mujhe tumhari kya baat acchi lagti hai
Mai tumse ye kaise kahun, ki mujhe tumhari konsi baat acchi nahi lagti

When Paramahansa Yogananda was very young, before he met his Kriya Yoga guru Sri Yukteswar Giri, he was initiated into the path of Radhaswami (Sant Mat, Surat Shabd Yoga). See my article on this: https://santmat.tumblr.com/post/77814298813/the-yogananda-sant-mat-radhasoami-connection-a
And one will find "echos of shabd", if you will, in his teachings, whether understood and appreciated these days or not. Like for instance, in, The Second Coming of Christ, he writes:
"By listening to this omnipresent sound the consciousness of the body -- caged soul begins gradually to spread itself from the limitations of the body into omnipresence. One listening to this cosmic sound will find his consciousness spreading with it to Limitlessness."
Also see references to cosmic sound or the sound of AUM in the book, Metaphysical Meditations.
