totally agree with you that ryouma is the only one who’d fall into the guilty party for this problem :I" if we’re doing call outs
Arguably all the adopted siblings fall under the shady power dynamic umbrella (which doesn’t necessarily need blood relation), but the game does go out of its way to give some plausible deniability--the three younger Hoshido sibs don’t have influence over Kamui because they’re effectively strangers.
Even the Nohr sibs have the slight excuse of Kamui being extremely isolated; Marx knew the truth, but apparently mostly interacted with Kamui from afar. Even Camilla, beloved smother herself, only brags about having done things like taken a bath with Kamui once (while Joker smugly counters that he’s attended them in the baths often). [Huh, it looks like those lines were removed in English? Even though they highlighted that Camilla’s not actually that close...well, uh, okay...]
(incidentally I do think Elise is the one Nohrsib where things are inexcusably hinky and there’s no real getting around it--she visited Kamui daily, maintains a clear familial admiration, and even starts the S-rank still thinking that they’re blood-related. Really no excusing this one, although it’s not entirely salient to my current point because it’s Kamui being the one in power)
Ryouma? Ryouma knew the whole thing and lies about it, even lies to get you to trust him! Marx at least tells the truth at the route split--Ryouma lies through his teeth until he can personally benefit from it. It doesn’t help that his C-A is about giving Kamui...a ring. Uh, a family ring, of family feelings, that you give to family, who you’re totally blood-related to! It’s not hard to get a creepy vibe of testing the waters from the structure of it...
shadesatran replied to your post:Hey Boots! Thanks for bringing us into ossan hell...
was questioning about the whole who is even left in touma besides this ragtag bunch of war heroes lmao'
didnt think about that issue till after I sent the question lol but ooh a puppet state would be how the other folks in fates would see this new ‘kingdom’ lol
Frankly, I’m still unclear on how Touma was even before all this? I mean...it was always a crazy extradimensional kingdom of floating continents behind a portal at the bottom of the chasm??? Like, I need some extra explanation here?
Hey Boots! Thanks for bringing us into ossan hell haha btw, I really love all of your character analyses for fe fates and I was curious about who you think is best fit to lead as Valla's king, politics and whatnot (discluding the children). Looking at some of the epilogues, in my opinion, zero seems to be amongst the best for Valla's future What are your thought on this? :o
I think that’s an exceptionally hard question to answer given...well, what IS Touma?
Both English and JP ends specify that the portal at the bottom of the Chasm was sealed forever, but go on to say things about Kamui’s spouse moving to Touma.
(secondary question: were there any humans still living in Touma by the time of the game? There are lots of possessed villagers...did the possessed people die with Hydra? Or did his possession simply end? Were they sealed within as well?)
I believe I read something about both Nohr and Hoshido ceding land and population to form Touma as a proper above-ground kingdom, but I don’t have a direct source for it...
Also? That’s insane. Touma doesn’t NEED to be resurrected as a kingdom if everyone is already dead and there is no land on which to build it. There is no culture to bring back. It’s not like Kouga, where disenfranchised survivors have been skulking around other countries without a home. It’s literally taking a bunch of Nohrians and Hoshidans, ripping them from their lives, and telling them they owe allegiance to a new lord purely for the purpose of giving the player avatar a pretty crown.
You’ve enjoyed cheap trade with the next village over all your life? Well fuck you, now that village is in Touma, pay the tariffs or keep walking.
Imagine being a politician in Chevalier and watching Nohr declare they’re making a whole new fuckin’ country just because they feel like it. You know Nohr--that’s obviously a puppet state. Don’t trust them. And on top of that, Nohr owes you reparations! And they’re pouring resources into maintaining this weird white elephant of a country! How resentful would you be?
The whole thing is nuts!
Like, I can’t even begin to say who would make a good king of Touma with the scope of that. Honestly I’d guess one of the royals, purely because it would be easiest to legally consider Touma an extension of either country for the purposes of aid.
That said, Zero’s Touma ending is very heartwarming, yes. I like him having a dedication to justice and humanitarianism under it all.

before that bracket of 8 was posted, nintendo of america’s twitter had something that was like “Tweet to us your favorite fire emblem fates character on both sides!” and it felt kind of bull since the majority of the characters are techn. from Nohr like Scarlet but for their voting purposes, you had to choose one from both hoshido and nohr :I"…

They have it split between Hoshido and Nohr so gotta ask how did they take neutral characters into account? Was it their country of origin they put them in like Kaze goes in Hoshido and Felicia in Nohr… seems like an odd and sloppy way of doing it if I’m being honest.
Ahh, I hadn’t seen that post because that’s really not any kind of reliable polling method. Actually, I remember scrolling past it and not even realizing it was supposed to be a poll, haha. I thought it was standard official Twitter generic hyping.
If Shigure is any indication (he was listed as a Nohr child) it looks like neutrals were mapped to their home country.
I touched my Ashura support in the localized version because of you. I hope you and him are very happy.
I’m very happy every time someone gives him a second look :D The localized supports are pretty good!
