Some ramblings:

I think shadow would become obsessed with reading about Mobians and specifically hedgehog cultures, the more time he spends with sonic.

He's made of 3 parts, human, hedgehog, Blackarms. I'm sure he'd have enough of his alien blood and he was raised by humans, they're all around him... But his curiousity with Mobius might be interesting, given they're not from earth. Surely he wants to know more.

Shadow feels like he'd be someone that needs a reason to do something, resulting in him becoming stressed and bored when everyone else is just chillin'... but he also feels like someone who'd be stuck in his thoughts at times, pondering things to an unhealthy degree.

When he lands on something, he sets a goal to find whatever it is he wants to find and will get tunnel vision, obsessively researching until the goal is complete... Being unable to complete things would not be an option to him.

Unless someone can break him out of it, he'll run himself dry lol. I think he'd do this with sonic, wanting to understand small aspects of Mobian culture, wondering how the history of the culture shaped sonic, or if sonic is really an outlier. An outcast that happened to work, despite it all.

Sonic hides much of his life from everyone. Even tails isnt always sure what's happening in his head, only knowing what he experienced with sonic. He doesn't know what Sonic doesn't tell him. No one does, no one but sonic.

Funny enough, this would be a huge issue between them, as Shadow works to open his heart, he wonders if Sonic's is as open as he says it is...

How do ya think vio found out shadow was ticklish? [based on our earlier hc conversation.]

Vio had finally decided to accept the, now obvious, that Shadow was a being of feelings and thought, like himself. But he had to test out. Did Shadow have the same tickle-ness as Link and all the Colours had. He said he was practically the same, just different origins, yet same origins, so it was highly probable that he was. Now, to test out the theory.

The hero had long since figured out that Shadow would come to bug him if he stayed in the library for too long. So, that was where Vio started the plan.

He walked into the library, grabbed a book, and sat down in one of many chairs strewn about. Sure enough, after around fifteen minutes, the shade slunk in and made a bee-line for Vio.

Shadow flopped himself onto Vio's shoulders. "Hey."

"hello." Vio tried to keep the smile that was threatening to come onto his face out of his voice and demeanor. "What is it?"

"I'm-ahhh! Hahaha!" Shadow lept away with a confused look on his face, holding his sides, arms stuck to his sides. "What was that for?"

"testing out an idea. Your reaction proved that I was correct."

"and... What was that idea?"

"that you are ticklish."

"...what?"

"come here and I can help you better understand." Vio carefully kept his face calm and neutral.

"uh...okay?" Shadow forced himself to relax more and came over to Vio's side hesitantly.

And Vio promptly decided to tickle him again, this time knocking him over and trapping him.

Shadow screeched and started laughing, so much so, that he glitched a bit. Now wasn't that interesting. Vio stopped for a second in thought. Too bad for him, Shadow decided to get revenge and knocked Vio over, doing the same to him.

"haha! Now we're even!" He cackled after they tussled back and forth and were gaining back their breaths.

"and I got the information I needed. Many thanks to you, Shadow."

Shadow huffed, trying to sound irritated, yet his grin gave away that he really wasn't. "Yeah yeah, sure." He waved a hand lazily. "Just don't use it against me."

"no promises." And with that, Vio turned on his heel and ran away before Shadow could try to make him promise not to.

Would Sonic and Shadow have kids?

I actually feel very strongly about this, and have written a lot regarding a fanchild (will draw a few ideas eventually and repost this probably)

Sorry for the long post. In my HC Shadow is sterile, as he's a hybrid creature, unable to breed with Mobian or Blackarms. His immortality would play a huge role on how he ponders the world.

I think they would raise a chao garden in place of children, maybe not even realizing the similarity. But over time, as Shadow is again faced with the realization that Sonic will die, and will consider what remains.

After Sonic is gone, there would be nothing left of him that Shadow could hold and look at. The Chao and Sonics influence is a kind of legacy, but to Shadow, he couldn't truly look at either and feel that it was Sonic, which might cause some tension between them. Something they could never agree on, y'know?

Idk why, but sonic always felt like someone who'd be great with kids and a great uncle, but someone who wouldn't want children of his own. Maybe it's an insecurity? He doesn't think he'd make a good father? There's lot of people like that irl. For Sonic, he doesn't consider children to be your only source of legacy. By just existing, Shadow is in essence Sonic's legacy. Even if he forgets again, Shadow's very way of interacting with the world is the continuation of Sonic's influence, something very profound and meaningful to Sonic, even if he doesn't say it.

When you vanished after the ARK, I was a different person, I approached the world with your story in my mind, even when I wasn't thinking of you. In that way, your existence changed my world, not just the Moon... Just by existing, you continue my legacy for the same reason." -sonic

While moved, in the end I think Shadow would still want a child, as his brain just can't rationalize this, even if he respects it. I've considered if they'd get a surrogate or... If Shadow would use the ARK and his connections to illegally recreate his own creation, using Sonic's blood as a stabilizer, ensuring Doom's blood is scrubbed from the child. I'm still considering what this act would mean to Sonic and how he'd feel about it. It's very extreme, but I live for the drama.

He might become obsessed with either offering Sonic immortality or immortality by way of a child, fearing he'd never make such a deep connection with anyone like he has with Sonic. Or maybe in reality, he'd be creating something he feels he should have been, finding a sense of cartharsis in raising something that is, in a sense, him. But better. A lot of people see their child as their second chance.

I hc that Shadow as he gets older gets more alien. Like when he’s an adult he’ll have a longer tail and spikes or smth. Idk, I like more alien shadow

Well, a lot of this has to do with childhood hcs I have for her tbh.

When she was still learning her magic (around eight or nine or so I guess) she accidentally set a rabbit on fire and killed it and refused to use her magic for at least a month or more. That didn’t work out very well and she eventually had to return to her studies.

However, because of that incident, she was also very vocal about not having meat or hunting animals for quite a few months. 

Kaitlyn was pretty devastated when Carver left to join the King’s army. Their father had died not too long ago and now he was leaving and she felt like she couldn’t protect him if he left and she didn’t want anything to happen to him. But it was also his life and she didn’t feel she could try and stop him.

I talk about it a bit, but I always just imagine that Kaitlyn knows how to make flower crowns cause it’s something her and Bethany used to do together.

When she couldn’t watch her siblings directly, she’d sometimes tell Shadow to watch over them >_>
