Finally finished the Laurance doodle!! It was more a rendering experiment for me tbh!!

I also like to hc that due to the trauma to the body during the transformation into a Shadow Knight, that it’s not uncommon for the blood vessels in the eye to burst!! So there’s an explanation for the redness lol

Ungruth took the bulk of the damage, but he couldn’t shield Laurence from all of it. Post-nether, Laurence has chronic pain and blurry vision from the void burns that never really goes away.

Not even considering the wounds from being tortured… His back is covered in deep cuts and soulfire burns. He came out of the Nether with bones so badly broken and fused, Zoey wasn’t sure if he even could recover…

Being partially undead complicated things further. If he were fully converted, then they could just give him potions of harming, but he’s only half-dead. The majicks users of the village spent weeks trying to get the right ratios of healing and harming magic to not kill him— Luckily— or unluckily— Laurence wouldn’t have to put up with being a guinea pig much longer than that, as he… well, a rat managed to get into the basement during a pain flare, and…

Well, let’s just say there wasn’t much let of it when Zoey came down to check on him, and they discovered that flesh and blood could be used to heal him. He really isn’t happy about it, but it’s easier to just accept “gifts” from the local butcher, instead of letting hunger and pain get the better of him.
