I, uhhh, cast on some socks of my own volition. I have a surplus of 4ply yarn and figured I should stop letting my mistakes with the last sock (cameo in the first picture) and the malabrigo put me off.

Pattern is called I Walk The Line and it’s deceptively simple and a neat ‘chevrons if you look at it one way and stripes if you look at it another’ shadow knitting trick.

My first holiday present is finished! It's fingerless gloves for a young musician, with illusion knitting of a musical note and a clef.

I think I made a knitting mistake on the upper right swoop somewhere, but that's a problem for future haemey. Present haemey needs to go to bed.

Snekkie here is now almost tablet-sized! Neat!

I'm going to have to think about what I want to do for the body of the scarf, soon. Should I just continue the black-and-red stripes? Should I make a different colour pattern? Since I bought the yarn when this project was supposed to be two-colour brioche shawl, I have an equal amount of red and black, three balls each. At this point, I've used up I think about half to two-thirds of a ball of each? I definitely have enough to make a nice, long scarf.

I'm open for ideas! I kinda don't want to just continue knitting stripes (I'm not emo enough to pull that off, also it kinda hurts my eyes to look at 😅), but I also don't want to switch to something that's going to look weird next to them. Maybe just wider stripes, then?

And I think I'm going to start designing the pattern for the other end, soon. I really think I'm going to go with the hourglass, but maybe black on red this time? Should be able to make it about the same size as snekkie.

I learned about shadow/illusion knitting 2 weeks ago on TikTok. Last week I found a free pattern to make a small heart using shadow knitting, which is when I found out it is knitting and purling with alternating colors. I then had the bright idea to make my own pattern to shadow knit. Tonight, I finished that pattern.

I made Pikachu! I used one of my cross stitch patterns to help guide me in making this knitting pattern. Next I'm going to make some yellow and black granny squares to make this into a sweater 😁
