"What? Haven't you met Cousin Tony? Yeah, you can trust him. He got me out of a damn tight spot a couple of months ago. Tarquin figures he's military intelligence*, but he's family, too, and clearly he knows how to keep his mouth shut when it comes to the important things. Disappears for long stretches of time and tends to show up juuuuuuust in time to do something so dramatic you'd swear it was out of a serial."

Antoni, also known as the Magpie, was very memorably in Minrathous in the spring of 9:44 Dragon. There are a lot of Mercar cousins, and he was... uh... well, it would have been weird if he wasn't around before that. Octavian is almost sure that one prank that backfired horribly on all of them when he was 12 was Cousin Tony's fault. When Antoni was in his early 20s, he took a contract did a favour for a friend of the family by tracking down a murderer in the Necropolis who had been killing low-ranking apprentices from Tevinter. That's where he met (@beepoven's) Ingellvar.
Everyone knows that if you spot Cousin Tony, he (or possibly she or they) might be undercover, so it's better not to use his name until you're absolutely sure you know what's going on.
Antoni's got a soft heart, even if he does like his ironic punishments.

Large and wide lovable himbo, occasional arsonist, unapologetic flirt, and scourge to Venatori and enslavers alike. He's the only son of Charon Mercar, saved from a battlefield as in infant strapped to a sword carried on a dead man. Former military, he joined the Shadow Dragons after his best friend was killed by Venatori and he avenged her death.
In canon, romances Neve (and Lucanis post-game) and has been friends with Elek for several years.

Evariste is a farm boy, a war mage, and a mechanical tinkerer, so his skills are varied. He's a loyal, steady presence with plenty of wisdom to share, and as an older guy he's not especially prone to impulsivity or lashing out. Loves animals (especially horses), working with his hands, and napping in the sun. The work Evariste did for the Shadow Dragons put a target on his back, and drove his family into hiding. The respect he holds for Ashur is absolute, now, but it came at a very high price.

Well, I'd better fill out Saadrah's character sheet for @shadow-dragon-week too, hadn't I? ;) @sketchytea did a beautiful job on the template. Everything on the .psd was so organized! 😍
Meet Saadrah, my Shadow Dragon Rook where I looked at the backstory and went, "Cool. That's a cover story, not reality for her." Born to Tal-Vashoth parents (one former Ben-Hassrath, one former saarebas) and growing up constantly on the move to avoid the Qun, Saadrah ended up in Tevinter after she led Qunari agents on a wild goose chase to keep them away from her family. She adopted the surname "Mercar" and fabricated a backstory about being found on a battlefield and adopted by a military family, and ended up joining the Shadow Dragons to put her skills to good use.
