I believe that Grace is actually not “evil” as a lot of us think.She is somehow bound to the Blackthorns-maybe a debt(?)-and she cares deeply for Jesse.We do not know why, but she just does and we knew about that in Chain Of Gold. So, we know that The Bracelet has a dark charm on it which is what makes James see the demonic realm, even when he doesn’t want to.There is also some kind of love spell put on him-also, possibly, part of The Bracelet-which replenishes whenever he sees Grace or touches her.He knows that he loves her in the moment. But, later, when he is away from her, even then he believed he loved her-because he DID love her (under a spell) but he does not actually feel the love for her when he is away from her.He just remembers the love and thinks he loves her even then.Grace also seems to care for James truly, as a friend.Which isn’t fair,I’ll admit, since she is still wrecking his life in the long run.But, remember when she tells him, after his scalding fever, that he was in love with Cordelia?She was trying to encourage his love for Cordelia.She knew she couldn’t break her promises or oath or whatever it is that binds her to Tatiana, so she tries to help with those words.She puts up that trickster front for Tatiana. And, when Tatiana was attacked by those demons,Grace tried to make him realise that what he felt wasn’t true love, and got him to return The Bracelet. And, later, when Lucie breaks into their mansion, the demon tells Grace , “Some enchantments aren’t yours to break” and it threatens to kill Jesse, and of course Lucie jumps with valour and saves them. But, later, when Tatiana recovers, she comes back around to give James the Bracelet, again.Cordelia and Cortana seem to be the Light in his darkness.The two seem to be the only ones to break through the darkness of the Demon Realm.Speaking of Cortana, the synopsis for Chain Of Iron says that Cortana burns Cordelia when she touches it.That really had me shook ,not gonna lie.Then,I remembered she’d stabbed Belial with Cortana. Cortana is a sword of MERCY. Perhaps, she had another way to escape the realm, but she gave way to her anger.It was righteous, but maybe not very merciful. But, really though, when I read that part in the synopsis, it made me vaguely emotional, since Cordelia is attached to Cortana like it’s her pet puppy, which is just sweet.Also, we’re going to be looking at Lucie and her plans to bring back Jesse. I can’t wait to find out more about how it’s going to happen. It’s an exciting factor in the series. And, there’s James. I believe that he’s the one who opens up the demon realm, letting out these demons-involuntarily, of course. He’s always been able to see the demon realm, which is quite unnatural, and maybe that’s why the demons can easily survive in the human realm. He’s been living with the Dark, and the demons maybe have gotten accustomed to the Light(????). And, last-but not least-I feel like Elias Carstairs is going to stir up some trouble in Chain Of Iron. There’s something odd going on between him and Sona Carstairs. And I also think Alastair is going to possibly respond rather fiercely(not necessarily Loudly, but he is going to be upset).
